So I was at the park yesterday and I sometimes take duck food or bread ends for the geese, swans and duck, anyhow I went to stand at one of the feeding areas and was just about to pull my small bag of offerings out when the woman next to me reached into her bag and pulled out a full unopened loaf of Kingsmill bread. I just left my bag in my pocket

I would have told her off:
5 reasons why bread is bad
Ducks need a varied diet to be healthy. Bread doesn't have much nutritional value and fills the duck's stomach so that it doesn't forage for foods it would naturally eat, which can lead to malnutrition.
Uneaten soggy bread can cause a build-up of bad nutrients, which can lead to more algae growing around water, more diseases and more pests, such as rats.
Throwing bread into a canal or river can create an unnatural overcrowding of bird populations, as the birds will flock to the same location in search of their starchy treat.
Too many ducks or waterfowl in one place can stress the birds and lead to their habitats being damaged.
This also creates excessive amounts of bird droppings, which, along with being smelly and slippery underfoot, can reduce water quality and clog waterways with harmful algae.

All the time lately. Not feeling good about myself
I think everyone is feeling a bit like that Kate .. even me when I’m in sparklingly good physical health .
Stress at work and family .. the cost of living , Energy prices , petrol prices , the threat of Covid seems to be looming , we are gonna be offered booster jabs for Covid and the Flu , media suggesting that the Covid vaccines aren’t necessary OR safe !! …. the climate , Ukraine crisis , Crazy Putin and his mental state , protestors blocking streets , Christmas adverts and songs in October
It’s a crazy time

well actually I had a recent conversation about this with a lady who runs a swan santuary and she said bread is fine, as it has grain in it and as long as it is not mouldy and if they are fed in the water, I also bring speicalist duck/bird food but they are far more interested in the bread, so put that in your pipes and smoke it :pipe:

Killjoys, sounds like the sort of people who came up with the sugar tax
Ducks deserve treats too
You should turn up tomorrow with a freshly baked artisan sourdough loaf

Its like the first time i went paintballing and we had just been given a gun and a pair of goggles. Then watching our opponents on that day arrive in full combat gear and pull out their own huge guns out of their boots with huge ammo tanks on the top
we were like....oh :worry:
channel 5 will soon have a new reality tv series ..... Duck wars

You ever feel like that just crack a joke.
Speaking for myself I tend to find it eases tension or stress not just for me, but other people around me as they either laugh at what I said, or spend a good few minutes thinking I'm a weirdo, thus ignoring the bizarre year that is 2022 momentarily.
