i got high expectations for this, mainly because i know the game through and through

and something already teased

they are having couple of changes from the game, no Pittsburgh but some other city Kansas City with Henry & Sam

and also a original character named Perry whom is played by the one who is the voice of Tommy in the game, Jeffrey Pierce, same goes for Florence & Marlon a married couple, also original characters, as well as Kathleen another original character, leader of revolutionary movement in Kansas City

a bigger role for the character Maria apparently than in the game

Feel good series was so 2015.

But seriously I agree with you, most TV Shows nowadays are so glum, especially if they're American made.

It is Hollywood after all.

episode 1

OMG this is amazing :clap1: :clap1: :clap1: :clap1:

some scenes perfect similarities to the video game, quite a lot of new scene content too, Pedro as for ep1 is a perfect casting for Joel, Gabriel so far what i've seen from him as Tommy, also a very good casting, he played his first scenes perfectly well

the Tess actress looks older than in the video game but somehow i don't quite dislike that, she and Joel fit better together here in this series than they already did in the video game

also nice we have extra dialogue for some of the FEDRA soldiers in Boston QZ compared to the game

cannot wait for next weeks episode 2 :D

I wonder if they're going to diverge from the plotline of TLOU2? Fans will lose their **** if it goers the same way . Although, there's a fairly large time jump (5+ years I think) between the two games, so in theory they could have several seasons of "their own thing" between the end of TLOU1 and beginning of TLOU2 and still eventually "go there".

For those who already know the plot of TLOU2 or don't care about potential major spoilers:
Joel gets his brains bashed in by the daughter of someone he killed in the first game, within the first hour or so of the 2nd game :joker: ... can you imagine the reaction of new TV show fans who haven't played the games? Daddy Joel! It would be like the Negan/Glenn scene all over again.

A lot of people hate on the game purely because of that. And because ...half way through the game they switch perspectives and you spend a huge chunk of time playing as his killer (Abby). I personally think she's a great character and the plotline is a good commentary on there being no real "good guys or bad guys" only different perspectives, and on the ultimate futility of cycles of revenge, but boy oh boy did some people hate the fact that Joel died (and Abby for killing him... and the voice actress who played Abby because people are stupid and misogynistic).

If a muscular lady in her early 20's shows up with a golf club in the HBO ... ...there's going to be fireworks.

In fact... thinking about it... the "basement scene" is far MORE brutal than the infamous Negan baseball bat scene.

Niamh.

I don't know the plot really but I know certain things because my son played it and liked to talk about it

I know in the game Eddie Vedders song Future Days featured, Luke learned to play it on the guitar and all but he's said it won't be in the TV Show because they changed the time line in the show to 2003 instead of 2013 like the game so the song wouldn't have been released yet which is a bit disappointing

Anyway, I'm enjoying the show so far, the 2nd episode was really good, the fungus Zombies are gruesome

Do you think it's similar? I don't really other than that it's about Zombies. Even the Zombies though are a lot different to the walking dead Zombies with the fungus element (which adds an extra layer of grossness plus the way they can call each other under the ground etc) The civilization is pretty different too plus the fact that Ellie is immune

nothing similar to the walking dead at all

also these clickers are way creepier than walkers :worry:

i struggled big time with those in the game, they are blind but their hearing is extra extra good

and then you also have bigger ones Bloaters, which spit fungus spores from its mouth :yuk:

also the cycle of the infected begins with a simple ''runner'' then ''clicker'' and those who get really old ''bloater''

Pedro is a great choice for Joel, wow :clap1:

yes good to extend Bill's story but he should've lived (like in the game)

can't believe they ruined the fate of one of my fave characters in the game :bawling:

also such a perfect casting, i mean wow exactly similar

now we do not get the epic scene at the school in live action :bawling: :bawling: Bill saving Joel's arse in the fight against the first bloater

it was a good episode but i do not agree with some choices, that's all

in the game, Bill saves Joel when he gets caught in one of his traps and loads of clickers, runners are cornering them, and the bunker in below a church in the game, and they have to get to the school in search for a working car battery, some really cool scenes those

Niamh.

if you haven't played the game before then yes it is a bit of a spoiler for that

i really don't know now anymore where the tv series will go in which direction compared to the game

but characters wise, let's just say, the worst scum is yet to come, and one of those is played by video game voice actor of Joel :fan: and we also still have Ellie's backstory to come, her mom being played by her video game voice actress  and i cannot wait for Rutina Wesley her first appearance as Maria, Tommy's wife/girlfriend over at jackson, i always liked Rutina on True Blood so am curious about her role as Maria which also is said to be larger role than in the game

Niamh.

From what I have read it sounds like filler to me.

I haven't watched the Show yet though, so maybe there's more than just the romance element in the episode.

And just to clarify for anyone that thinks that I'm being Homophobic, I hated the shipping episodes in TWD and Falling Skies as well.

was a nice episode, the attention for detail comparing to the game

Dawn of the Wolf ''film'' poster is also seen in the main game, ''Left Behind'' the title of this ep, is the title of the bonus DLC game

if this continues to follow the game's storyline then next episode indeed will be good fun with the sickening cannibal villains, David & James :yuk: James has a bigger role apparently than in the game, more dialogue and is played by the voice actor of Joel in the game, Troy Baker while David is played by Scott Shepherd whom is known for his roles in El Camino: breaking bad movie, Bridge of Spies, and in Dark Phoenix

also A-Ha's Take On Me also in this ep  something what Ellie sings in the game with her guitar

lots of fun easter eggs

well
Bill wasn't supposed to die though, that was a original choice for the tv series for whatever reason, Bill still lives in the game (very likely too given he has traps all over that town and loads of ammo in the bunker below the church)

Nicky91
14-03-2023, 02:08 PM
the infected are a side thing to the pandemic, this show isn't similar to walking dead lol

it is about surviving in a post-apocalyptic world with all sorts of different settlements, groups

- FEDRA
- Fireflies
- Raiders
- several Independent settlements, including the one in Jackson
- Hunters
- Cannibals

as for the monsters you got couple of types

category 1: runner
category 2: clicker
category 3: bloater
category 4: yet to be revealed it's name but there is something worse than a bloater, some who have been infected for a long long time

it was a great season finale yes, great acting performance, also the scene with the giraffes (i was like almost like jurassic park with the brachio's, when i first saw this in the game, perfectly acted here in this episode too ) the innocence especially is highlighted here in that particular scene, a small bit of innocence in such a hard cruel world

user104658

:nono: Nicky you've not been reading the in-game literature! The 4 stages are

Runners
Stalkers
Clickers
Bloaters

an "offshoot" stage (somewhere between clickers and bloaters) are the "Shamblers" from TLOU2.

Plus there's "The Rat King" which is the giant mutated infected from the hospital basement that Abby fights, created by several infected being trapped in a small space for 20 years and merging into one.

There might be new variations in TLOU3 that don't exist yet (I'm expecting another 5 year time jump personally).
