Interesting.

Recently, I was watching a few videos on YouTube about people who are sleeping on the streets in UK winter.

Horrendous.

One guy, aged about 50, said he was earning £450,000 a year and became homeless. But he didn't expand on how he went from £450,000 to ZERO money, no job, no home.

Apparently he was a stock broker. You could tell from his posh accent that he was probably telling the truth. But whether he was making that kind of money, who knows!

Just like Gail, how did she become homeless? She must have earned a fair amount of money in her time.

The problem is there are so many fake scum bags on the street pretending to be homeless

Also the charities make money for themselves so only a fraction gets to the people that need it.

Then there is the people that you can’t help because of their mental health,I know a guy who was given a nice flat with all new appliances
He took them to the dump and was sleeping in a shed in his mums garden until his mum asked me to find him a caravan for him and put it in her garden.

id say 100% of them in main city centers are not genuine. Never ever give them money.

I just don't know how anyone can go from earning £450,000 a year, to basically nothing, no home either.

I guess he could be gambling. I've heard rich guys losing millions to gambling. And divorce too, can take almost all your money.

It's a shame to hear.

Especially when some people in this country can be very cruel to homeless people behind their backs.

And obviously there is the scam artists like has been pointed out on this thread.

I'm glad to hear that she has somewhere to live now though.

How is it that we can put people coming in this country illegally in hotels but ex servicemen are left on the streets

We should be looking after out own first not spending millions on people choosing to leave their homes.

The country has never looked after "our own." It's just a nonsensical soundbite used to stoke more racism.

Corbyn had a policy to tackle homelessness. but no other leader will for a long, long, time. Asylum seekers have never held a single country back from addressing the problem.

Sure,
but he never got in power

And he is never permitted back into the Labour Party

There is help for those that will take it,
Slim.

It doesn't matter. Folks had an opportunity to vote for someone who wanted to tackle homelessness, but they didn't (which is fine). I never saw any person in the election threads talking up tackling homelessness as an issue then, which shows the only reason it is being brought up now, is to pretend the AS'ers are to blame for everything.

MH and trauma are bigger issues which lead to both addiction and homelessness, but again, I don't remember anyone being concerned back in those election threads.
