Now this is probably gonna be a hot take that I'm about to say.
But considering he is 17 years old, couldn't he have faced a suspension if the University honestly felt like they needed to punish him over this Rap lyric?
Personally I strongly dislike where society is going when it's coming to a lack of second chances.
I personally feel like we all make mistakes, I honestly don't get why a 17 year old can't be forgiven for his by his University?
Scholarship places are highly competitive, they have no reason to award it to someone with a blemish when there are thousands of alternatives

Serves him right. A 17-year-old is a grown-arse teenager, not a little kid who really wouldn’t know any better.

Singing along to a Rap Song though? I think that's a bit harsh, would be different if he'd used it as an insult towards someone

Singing along to a rap song ("song") shouldn't cost someone their future. Complete overreaction.

Ah, I see. If that’s the case (I didn’t have time to check out the link) I’ll agree that there was no need. I thought he was actually using the other version of the n.-word as a racial slur.

its not about the student
the person in charge is scared of getting blame/a bunch of white students being faux offended and taking to social media

If he straight up said it to someone or wrote the lyrics himself then ... it's fair enough.
If it's a video of him rapping/singing the lyrics of an actual song then it's just ridiculous .

Tbf I probably should've clarified in the OP.

And I probably should’ve clicked the link before commenting so we’re even, Mock. Don’t worry.
