All the strike action being considered and taken is both undesirable and extremely sad to see.

However up to now I support the workers seeking better hope in their livelihoods after this period of X years.
It's sadly inevitable this was going to be the case when you have this particular government of a hard-line make up.
Plus Companies not being fully fair and honest with workers too.

When people get to that breaking point of feeling totally undervalued and not really listened to.
Then the breakdown in relations will result in discontent and the need for stronger action.
So good luck to them in their fight from me.

Yeah those lucky buggers out there getting underpaid to have people's lives in their hands when the rest of us could have been out skimming a profit off dead pensioner's pots and crockery but weren't allowed! Don't know they're born, they should get back in those ambulances and work purely for the roof over their head and a Tesco meal deal on a Thursday. And be grateful for it!

I agree totally.

It really should be a scandal how the other workers across the NHS.
As well as Doctors, Nurses and the ambulance service.
Have remained so undervalued and failed by the government.
Not just this one.
The last Labour government could and should have done much more too.

The clapping on doorsteps have became as meaningless as the only lip service given with the arrogant treatment of those in the NHS now.

When I heard on the news this morning if you're an old man or woman in your 80s or 90s, and you fall over and cannot get up, the ambulance WON'T COME OUT.:shocked:

Basically you can lie on the floor and die if not that day but a few days later. :(

That is sick and an absolute disgrace.:fist::fist:

It's almost like we actually need ambulances and medical staff and should pay them well enough for them to come to work . Baffling really, and here I was, thinking they ate well wishes and slept on beds made out of pats on the back. This as truly all been a revelation! If we don't have nurses and paramedics people are going to die. A real shock to come to terms with!

Thankfully LT will still be available upsell your dead grandad's old ashes pot if you give it a good wash, then you can pay for a taxi to the hospital. No one be there to look after you but at least you'll be closer to the morgue.

There's been in the last 12 years from the SAME party 5 different Prime Ministers.
An unstable scenario of changes of Health secretary.

One would have thought it possible to get a health Secretary who actually did really care.

Yet here with this again new PM all he does is shuffle around another incompetent and uncaring individual who has been a failure in the last few years too.
Into this important position which urgently needs at least some understanding and compassion to deal with the ever building crisis.
Not hard-line extreme soundbites.

The rhetoric from Barclay and the government is a disgrace to any decency.
Towards the Nurses, Doctors and ambulance service as well as to all others who work in the NHS.

If anyone needs an Ambulance tomorrow I pity them….

My Dad has had a suspected Stroke after a fall in the early hours of Monday morning. After being checked out by a Doctor he gradually deteriorated and an Ambulance was called at midnight last night….at MIDDAY today it finally arrived. Now in hospital still in a side cubicle as we speak my 92 year old Dad is in a bad way.
The pressure the Ambulance service is under is clear…but devastating to those that need a quicker response. It’s not looking good for my poor dad.

Here is another Health secretary who is a totally wrong appointment then.

Really after the last something like 8 years of the government's failure on the NHS, I think Barclay needs to look closer to home for real blame.
At those in the job before him.

He should be looking for ways to compromise and bring together not set out to divide further like he is in this atrocious statement

I really think there are some industries that shouldn't strike, it's terrifying how many people today will have their lives lost or ruined because of this action. I saw this morning that you will basically only get an ambulance if you're having a heart attack and about to die, you won't get one if you're having a stroke despite the first few hours being so important

Well it's usual to have a high figure originally to then come down on in compromise to a lower one.

The government do NEED to look at something like that and NOT follow the continuing procrastination road they've followed for years now under successive Prime Ministers.

Scottish nurses offer on the table works out as around a 14%-15% increase from April 2021-April 2023 (17%+ at the lower end of the pay bands) and I think it's looking likely that the offer will be accepted on vote. Other amendments to pay scale structure are being looked at and amended going forward as well.

I think that's the best that can be hoped for, but I think it also serves as a pretty clear mandate for English staff to hold out for 15%.

If the govt. continue to refuse and Scottish nurses end up on a full 15% higher salary than south of the border, there'll be an exodus of Northern English nurses moving to the South of Scotland :joker:.
