Was just going to say  Why does he want to represent us rather than the UK though? I know he has Irish parents but he's always said he was British

Probably because he knew he weren't gonna recreate what Sam Ryder did for us last year.

Hopefully his song does well for Ireland.

If we choose it...

I expect that his name power alone will give him a chance.

this one might be his toughest competition, which is very jury friendly and a little bit televote appeal too

would be smarter also to think about potential juries in case Ireland will make it through the 100% televote semi, for the final, where it is 50% Jury and 50% televote

Either way it'd be good to have Ireland be competitive at Eurovision this year by pulling off their own Sam Ryder moment.

i doubt they will ever do greatly again, and i thought Brooke last year gave it a good go and at least had a entertaining fun pop song

I do like him though, I really admire his bravery for speaking out about Jimmy Saville back in the day when it wasn't "OK" to do so and got a lot of doors closed on him because of it

[John Lydon, the former Sex Pistols frontman,
has failed in his bid to represent Ireland at Eurovision.

The 67-year-old had hoped his song Hawaii,
about his wife Nora who lives with Alzheimer's,
would be chosen "to bring awareness" to the disease.

Instead the band Wild Youth was chosen
to fly the Irish flag at the song contest
in Liverpool in May.

They're up against 14 other countries who'll
be cut down to 10 in a semi-final.

Despite its record seven wins,
Ireland has only qualified for the grand final
twice since 2013.]
