Why bother is the question, that's just a simple loss of temper. I get that the guy has decided that he's had enough ... so walk out. Worst that happens if you simply walk out of that building is you lose your job.

Start swinging and you still lose your job, and end up with an assault charge.

FFS the kid didn't even swing first, this is 100% ego.

Love it, when the other little rat jumped in when the teacher was on the ground, someone needs to smack that one up too.
Reminds me of when that physics teacher smashed a little rat over the head with a weight, love a good bit of justice in this unfair world.

That kid was irritating AF, but this teacher completely lost his
temper & mind. You can't go around physically assaulting every student who provokes you... otherwise every teacher would lose their job and any type of ethics they have.

I bet the kid is pleased with himself now. And the teacher will be known as a nut case..... who now needs anger management therapy :bored: .

He's a teacher, his job is to keep his cool and report the behaviour to the school so that someone can look into what's going wrong with this kid. I'm not going to say it's each individual teacher's job to get to the bottom of it with troubled pupils or that they have to put up with it, his job is to teach, but ultimately he's in a position of authority & care when acting as a teacher and getting violent is inexcusable. No "setting up" or "provoking" - he's not just some random bloke on the street.

I'd even say his actions were too far if he was physically attacked first, though at least in that case reasonable self-defense is understandable.

In this case... he started swinging FIRST because of a bit of verbal provocation. Inexcusable and not the temperament suitable for working with minors at all.

the teacher obviously had anger issues and the kid was provoking him knowing what would happen

One wonders, then, based on the fact there seemed to be multiple people recording, if the teacher hasn't lashed out at people before and they've set out to deliberately catch him on video.

i think thats more than likely.

i had a couple of teachers like that when i was at school. One science teacher chased a kid round the laboratory, swinging his belt and whacking him any where he could. He eventually pinned him against the wall and belted him across the body about 20 times

After reading through the comments section of this tweet. Apparently this was from a few years ago and the charges were dropped.

That’s true !

His last swing would have taken the kid’s head off if it had connected

I for one am SHOCKED that Sheriff thinks it's OK for grown men - teachers - to punch 14 year old kids in the head.

Totally out of order.
The kid should have been punished within the rules, not walloped.
My daughter is an SEN teacher, she was assaulted by a 14 year old child and ended up in A&E recently.
She not only did not fight back, she refrained from screaming out in pain so as not to upset the little darling.

That's horrible, teaching is one of the most difficult jobs out there . I could never do it ....and there's some kids out there with serious issues aswell .

My daughter is fine now.
She had a heavy stool bashed down on her arm and hand, this caused damage to her ulna nerve.
Arm in a sling and a few days off work, the school organised travel for her as she could not drive, she is fine now.
It was upsetting for her as she was really making headway with the pupil.
She understands the difficulty of her role teaching troubled children and wouldn’t want to give it up.
