The Pathetic BBC
does not mention he is moving to a better Radio station

[On leaving BBC Radio 2, Bruce said:
“Nothing stays the same forever,
and I have decided the time is right
for me to move on from Radio 2 when
I reach the end of my
current contract in March.]

See you in April!”]

A face for Radio if there ever was one.

The rot set in when they shoehorned in Zoe Ball and Sarah Cox because they were women and not because they were the best for the job. They got rid of Paul O'grady and put in that berk with the big teeth Then Steve left and they put in Scot Mills and his botoxed face and now Ken is going.

I don't listed to R2 anymore in general. I do listen to Gary Davis, Tony Blackburn, Trevor Nelson and Johnny Walker shows on My SOunds.

Shame as his show is the best one on there. Says it all that it's the most listened to show even though it's not a great time slot. I do like Zoe, Sara, Scott etc but there's a reason people like Ken, Mayo and Wright are legends of their craft. There's not enough diversity in the music anymore either with the younger replacements

Zoe Ball is a nice person etc but she is a terrible DJ

unlistenable unless you are a surrey housewife

My problem is that she bangs on about Strictly all the bloody time. Don't think there's been a single day she hasn't managed to shoehorn a Strictly mention into the show

I reckon it was when they replaced Terry Wogan with the insufferable Chris Evans and lost almost all of Wogans listeners in one go.

Everyone over fifty should turn off BBC and refuse to pay their licence fee. There's nothing the BBC offers for people who haven't got kids, are over 40 and are not a member of the champagne Socialist from Islington set.

Nearly 600,000 listeners turn off after departure of Steve Wright and Paul O'Grady and axing of
60s and 70s songs - while Greatest Hits Radio enjoys boom ahead of Ken
Bruce's arrival

BBC Radio 2 has lost 580,000 listeners in a year where they ripped up their
schedule and older stars including Ken Bruce, Steve Wright and Paul O'Grady
were shipped out for younger DJs such as Scott Mills.

The station has found itself at the centre of an ageism storm as commercial
rivals playing more music from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s saw their
audiences grow by up to a third.

So-called 'Radio 2 refugees' have abandoned the station for Boom Radio -
the station is aimed at baby boomers born between 1946 and 1964 - and
Greatest Hits Radio, the new home of Ken Bruce, who will take his beloved
PopMaster quiz with him in March.

Radio 2
overall weekly audience has fallen by 580,000 to 14.29million.

Breakfast show host Zoe Ball has seen a drop in listeners while Ken Bruce's
listenership is also down - although his show is still the most listened to on
the station with 8.2million, according to Rajar.

I could do that actually but I like to feel old school

Constantly have to switch between 693 and 909 MW as well when I'm listening to football to get the better reception

Ken's last song choice and what an absolute classic

The last music Ken Bruce played on his last ever Radio 2 show was the finale
from Abbey Road by the Beatles, culminating in The End. He quoted the lyrics:
“In the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.” But then,
because he's a professional to the last, he handed over to Jeremy Vine on the
stroke of noon, and his actual final words were, “It’s 12 o’clock, here’s Jeremy”.

Ken is BACK! :amazed:

https://planetradio.co.uk/greatest-hits/

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Fmq8YUEWIAEpE-J?format=jpg&name=900x900

The first lady on Popmaster was nervous and got 12 points

The second guy got a full house 39 points :amazed:

this meant he did not have to do 3 in 10 so it passed to the nervous lady

3 hits in 10 seconds for...Rod Stewart

She got 2 and froze

The music beds are not the same as Radio 2 (so he did not manage to copyright them) and will take a week to get used to.

His first song was Come Together by the Beatles

Great to have him back in his new home

:clap2:

Brand new theme needed I think

the guy who got the full house is a former Champions league Popmaster winner so Id imagine he was picked rather carefully!

the guy who got 39 on Popmaster respond to fix claims:

Believe you me as the second contestant today you have no reason to be suspicious. Yes I've been on before as I mentioned during the pre-quiz chat with Ken but during the qualifying (last Tuesday) and a brief chat with one of the producers on Friday I have never mentioned to them about being a Champions League winner to them, in fact I only mentioned it after the quiz had ended (off air) as they were taking down my address for the prize.

I had also applied for PM three times last year on Radio 2 and got the call back with all qualifiers correct but no return call, same with Ten To The Top last month. The difference is each time I have had a call from the BBC you get some Gen Z person who really hasn't a clue and honestly doesn't come across as being that interested in what you have to say. With GHR I was called by a guy called Andy each time (4 times in total) who you can hold a decent conversation with and seemed genuinely interested in what I had to say.

They called me Friday and told me I'd be on today with zero knowledge of my previous PM experiences.
