[Love Island bosses plan to launch new series
for 'people in their 40s and 50s with
real bodies' after viewers complained
about lack of diversity

After seven years of perfectly
toned twenty somethings gracing our
screens it's been reported ITV are launching
a brand new Love Island for
middle-aged singletons.

The dating show, which first aired
in 2015, will see older contestants
with 'real bodies' hoping for a
second chance at love.*

With a source telling The Sun more
mature islanders will likely bring
*'intelligent conversation' and a new
perspective to TV screens.

The men and women will live together,
much like the current format,
however will be coupled up behind
the scenes by their children and has
the working title of 'Your Mum, My Dad'.

A source went on to tell the

generation in their 40s and 50s
still care about how they look,
are fit and healthy, into fashion and are
ready to let their hair down.]

:think: that's just what love island is though... People at 40+ "looking for love" are either going to be divorced, widowed or just somehow so truly awful that they've never been in a relationship at 40. Depressing stuff surely. Not that people shouldn't still be able to find love - but they should be doing it the "real" way I.e. Meeting and getting to know people naturally, not on a dating show.

What they could do is have a year of Love Island where tleveryine they get in is proper grown ups instead of silly little boys and girls - they have them up to 30 now, so one year where the oldest is 30 but the YOUNGEST is, say, 25, could be an interesting change. Higher chance that most of the people there would actually be genuinely looking to make connections and not just there for a larf.


In terms of having a show with more intelligent conversations and more diversity - isn't that why they're bringing back Big Brother?? I thought that was the whole point :laugh:
