It's been a very poor reflection on society in general imo, feel like we have a population now seeing the world through the lens of TikTok and True Crime stories who were enjoying the mystery a little too much. The police have slightly been vindicated but they still handled a lot of this very badly including the 'high risk person' announcement.

Hopefully people can leave the family alone now. I expect there'll be a full inquest in time which will establish how it happened.

Powerful statement from the family

Here is the statement from Nicola Bulley's family, as read by Lancashire Police Head of Crime Detective Chief Superintendent Pauline Stables:

“Our family liaison officers have had to confirm our worst fears today.

“We will never be able to comprehend what Nikki had gone through in her last moments and that will never leave us.

“We will never forget Nikki, how could we, she was the centre of our world, she was the one who made our lives so special and nothing will cast a shadow over that.

“Our girls will get the support they need from the people who love them the most.

“And it saddens us to think that one day we will have to explain to them that the press and members of the public accused their dad of wrongdoing, misquoted and vilified friends and family.

“This is absolutely appalling, they have to be held accountable this cannot happen to another family.

“We tried last night to take in what we had been told in the day, only to have Sky News and ITV making contact with us directly when we expressly asked for privacy. They again have taken it upon themselves to run stories about us to sell papers and increase their own profits. It is shameful they have acted in this way. Leave us alone now.

“Do the press and other media channels and so called professionals not know when to stop? These are our lives and our children's lives.

“To those who genuinely helped and supported us, privately, we thank you. The community support in St Michael's, friends, neighbours and strangers has been nothing short of comforting and heart-warming. Friends you know who you are. Thank you.

“Our hearts truly break for others who have missing loved ones. Keep that hope alive.

“Finally, Nikki, you are no longer a missing person, you have been found, we can let you rest now.

“We love you, always have and always will, we will take it from here.”

Yes that’s something you can’t get your head round

Was talking to a friend his neighbour got up with his wife they went of to their separate jobs

He met his long time friend for a round of golf they had lunch together
Then the guy went home and hung him self

His friend who went with him that day and had known him since school couldn’t get his head around what he had done because he was the same on the day has he had always been.

He has just been interviewed with Nick on LBC, he would have widened the search and stayed longer if he had the info on vulnerabilities

Listened to it on the way to work…Nick clearly did not like him.

Arrogant and attention seeking. He now claims his equipment cannot see through bulrushes only what is on the Riverbed….pity he didn’t say that in the first place. If you can’t see through the bulrushes then you cannot guarantee she isn’t in there.

They can tell from the lungs if someone drowned or was dead before they went in the water.

This is just horrific, the dreaded sad news most of us suspected all along. Can't imagine what the family & her poor kids are feeling at this terrible time, they have the closure but it's the worse news .

Can someone explain to me how it took them 3 weeks to find the body ?!!, yet some random dog walker randomly finds her !. It just doesn't make sense, were the police and divers NOT looking properly???....they were meant to be thorough. The diving expert sounds like a fool , how did he miss certain obvious areas !!. She was only found 1 mile away.

Not enough that they have lost a loved one, but that the media and so many of the public have been so disrespectful.
