Honestly police forces are just so ridiculously corrupt. A friend of mine went into the police at 20 and lasted less than a year. Nothing as serious as this guy's crimes but it shows the culture. His first time out on patrol with 3 other officers, they nabbed a guy for drugs possession and basically offered him a "get out of jail free card" - they'd let him just go home and forget about it, if he let them beat the crap out of him just for a laugh. Which he accepted, they knocked the **** out of the guy, and sent him on his way.

He had all sorts of stories like that. Police whacking people across the shins with a baton when they were sat on the ground handcuffed... really just for fun. A lot of people on a power trip.

He's never been the same in all honesty, ended up with a cocaine problem, got clean from that but sidestepped into a major gambling problem that remains.

the judge explained why it wasn't a whole life sentence and 30 years will see him off. I would be surprised if he lasts a year
