The former presenter of World of sport in the 1970s and 1980s, Dickie Davies has died aged 94. A legend of sports broadcasting.

As a young Wrestling fan in the 1980s I have fond memories of Dickie.

RIP

I have a great story about Giant Haystacks but maybe it would only interest a select few who would even know who he was

I used to be a landscape gardener for a while and occasionally we struggled to get paid at the end of a job .. usually the bigger , more expensive ones

Soooo rather than engaging solicitors my boss took his mate around in the evening to ‘encourage’ them to pay up ..

Basically he went to the house and asked for the money respectfully then Haystacks who was watching from the van .. used to get out of the van very slowly and strutted , purposely up the path ..

The client always saw reason ..
