Bernie wants to Tax More
on the Very RichThat's because he likes stealing other people's money so that he can spend it on what he wants instead of those who's money it is spending their money on what they want.

That's why bussines owners would take their business elsewhere and there would be less opportunity for others to make a living. They'd have to hope and beg that Bernie would feed them instead of them feeding themselves.

i cant remember who he is?

I was watching his interview with my mum, and as he was talking she had this absorbed look on her face. I wondered if she was taking in his every word, as she isn't too interested in American politics, it's perfectly possible he entirely passed her by.

After a while, she said: "THAT'S IT! He's the Mitten Man!"

Capitalism has lifted more people out of poverty than other system.

It's a little more complicated than that though, this is "snapshot thinking" i.e. believing that you can look at one period of time and project it eternally into the future. Was capitalism - all of agricultural, industrial and neoliberal - necessary and did it improve living conditions for the average person immeasurably? Yes. Is it sustainable? No and we're now starting to see the "gremlins in the system" that mean late-stage capitalism will eventually have to become obsolete, and "future solutions" will need to be found for anyone to live comfortably. It has undeniably already peaked and wealth-hoarding needs to be addressed, quickly, or the backwards slide for most of to population will be sudden, swift and devastating.

Assuming humans continue to exist at all there are only two viable futures.

1) Increasing automation going hand-in-hand with increasing socialism.

2) MASSIVE-scale population reduction. And not like Thanos' "50%", more like 90% and with controls in place to stop it increasing from there.

I do actually agree with you ...

... but ...

People have been saying such things since automated cotton ravelling machines, and I'm not sure if (proportionately) more jobs are at risk due to the robots, so I have a scoach of skepticism about the upcoming end times.

I don't think we're there yet with automation and some jobs will never be automated, or certainly not any time soon, despite all of the play-acting on Social Media with things like ChatGPT (that has now apparently been hacked to be more self aware or something :joker: ) it's all smoke and mirrors; real artificial intelligence does not exist and is nowhere near.

The wealth-hoarding and social breakdown of end stage capitalism is pretty clear at this stage though. Really no denying that IMO. Some sort of wealth redistribution mechanism is going to be required or it's going to get even more ridiculous than it is now. Capitalism was never supposed to result in a tiny number of people and organisations sitting on mountains of resources that they could never possibly use in a thousand years while working-age employed adults struggle for basic accomodation. It's a system that's ultimately doomed. The youngest part of the workforce is already reportedly "lacking in work ethic" which basically just means, they do the bare minimum and if their boss gets angry about it they quit on the spot. You have to admire it really :joker:.

" a democratic, civilised society"

Be Fair Old Bernie
has managed to raise money
for poor workers in the USA.

So he views his nation
as Democracy
Like the UK has.

Like Biden, got more votes than Trump
so became the President.
That's Democracy

I've long-maintained that a truly civilised society cannot be a pure democracy. A semi-democratic non-party-based meritocracy would probably be the closest you'd get but even then, I'd have some sort of system that automatically vetoes extremist candidates.

Essentially what I mean is, you could have elected officials heading up each government department, but the criteria for running for election would be extensive education and experience in that area of expertise. e.g. no "Health Ministers" who don't have a long and extensive list of accolades and published pieces of work within real-world healthcare - preferably on-the-ground practical experience too. No environment ministers who are not doctored academic scientists. You see my thinking.

So yes... ONCE someone has adequate experience and qualifications to put themselves forward for a top government role, THEN they put together a campaign and the public votes as a second layer of checks.

Imagine a world where all of the politicians are actually educated and make their decisions based on expertise instead of voting trends and politics :flutter:
