to Twitter yesterday and since then
her explanation has gone viral.]
[Rachel said: "Donald Duck does not wear
pants because they would interfere with
the production of preen oil, created in a
gland in the rump, that makes his
feathers resistant to water."
Ducks and birds go through a process known
as "preening" each day which is a form
of grooming for them.
They do this to keep their feathers
in the best possible condition.
The preen gland found near the base
of a bird's tail produces an oily substance
that has diester wax which helps
keep feathers waterproof and flexible.]
