I don’t understand how the post office is struggling given we all send and receive twenty times more parcels and packages nowadays due to online purchases and sales ( eBay , Amazon etc )

That is why they are struggling they dont deliver at the rate of Evri DPD or Amazon...and the recent strike was about the PO wanted to move t a new model delivering letters later and focussing parcels

Fair enough.. it’s just that they’re ideally placed to thrive in this age of buying / selling online

There's barely any margin in most of the services they offer and they're pretty much all declining. Agree with bots they won't be allowed to go under though as they offer so many vital services

Remember that the Post Office and Royal Mail are separate entities as well - they only ready things for posting, they don't actually act as a courier. The local postie won't even be a Post Office employee so is probably talking rubbish lol

Well its actually the idiotic boss of Royal mail - the one that bare face lied to the goverment threatening this, he should be in jail for what he's done to the company.

[Royal Mail has announced plans to cut 10,000 jobs
by next August, blaming ongoing strike action
and rising losses at the business.
The postal company said it will begin notifying
workers of its plan, which includes up
to 6,000 redundancies.
Apart from the redundancies, the firm will
cut roles through natural attrition,
for example by not replacing workers who leave.

Royal Mail also said it expects its full-year
losses to hit £350m.

of eight days of industrial action" as
well as lower volumes of parcels being posted.

"if customers move volume away
