People who use recreational drugs are “responsible” for fuelling the organised
crime that led to the murder of Olivia Pratt-Korbel, the police chief in charge
of the investigation into her killing has warned.

The schoolgirl was shot dead by Thomas Cashman, a cannabis dealer, as he
pursued a rival in a bungled gangland hit in Liverpool last August.

It's a fair point, I know loads of people who are very socially conscious and care deeply about things like poverty, equality etc. yet will happily fund the drugs trade every weekend and think nothing of it. Not meaning to be too judgemental as I've been there as well but there is a lack of self-awareness around it a lot of the time

The war on drugs started around the 80's, and it has not only made things worse, but has been shown up by tolerant progressive attitudes to be completely unnecessary.

People will always do drugs, so criminalising it underground to give to gangs, is how we get situations like this. The love of getting fcuked up spans across our history and different species, and is even theorised to have played a part in our evolution.
