The statistic may be right.
The tweet shockingly constructed.
As are many statements from the Cons against Labour too which hard-line Cons support and laugh at.
This however is a further demonstration as to why politics needs to be completely shaken up and changed.
The vast majority of people don't like this extremely divisive politics.
From any and ALL Parties.
It's why we need to work to a political system and voting system which creates a more working together to really succeed.
Get rid of this nonsense going on for way too long now.

I don't get your point.
I said the statistic MAY well be right.
I then went on to say the tweet SHOCKINGLY constructed.
Thereby the statistic right.
The tweet WRONG.
If you must selectively on even such a small post take a bit of it, then at least balance it correctly please.
After all Starmer gets criticised and condemned by Cons for things Labour did pre 2010.
I guess you may say that's alright to do however.
Starmer has only been an MP since 2015.
Same should apply.

:umm2:
who on earth signed it off??
Sorry, i don't think it's gutter politics. We just heard about a man that raped a child in scotland and got no jail time because he was considered too young. This strikes me as very similar, and should be pointed out at every opportunity

MPs and commentators from across the political spectrum have criticised a Labour attack
ad claiming that Rishi Sunak does not think child sex abusers should go to prison.
The opposition party was accused of “cheapened and debased” politics and “stooping low”
after posting the advert on Twitter on Thursday.

i understand everything clearly. It's an outrage if people arent convicted in Scotland, because the scottish government is SNP. Labour are an outrage for pointing out that the same has been happening in england under the tories
That sums this thread up

The fact that Twitter have had to contextualize the tweet speaks volumes:
Provides important context · Cites high-quality sources
Tweet implies that the PM, Rishi Sunak, doesn't support prison sentences for sexual assaults against children.
The current sentencing guidelines for this crime has a maximum sentence of 14 years imprisonment.
https://www.sentencingcouncil.org.uk/offences/crown-court/item/sexual-activity-with-a-child/
There is no conservative party policy that plans to remove this.

Yes indeed.
The reference to Sunak is wrong absolutely.
This isn't really fair on him.
The statistic may well be right.
Possibly even worse?? In my view.
If more digging was done.
The failure of real justice for rape victims and even sex crimes against children has got worse since 2010.
There were issues too before 2010 admittedly but this lot have very dirty hands as to the issue of real justice for the victims
No matter how much the CON hardliners wish to re- write this lots horrendous actions in Con strongly dominated governnent for near coming on 13 years, YES, 13 WHOLE years now.
Unbelievable and a disgrace.
Still badly failing in real justice on this issue even now.
i think its sinister that people choose to ignore the figures and instead try and change the narrative and make it a problem with labour

Labour really should in this atmosphere be the grown up party and stay out of the weeds when it comes to ‘dirty’ campaigning, but it’s done, the message about the Tory party is correct and I’m not going to condemn it, I’m also not going to take the right wing grifters seriously when they’re now crying after receiving a tiny taste of their own medicine

This situation reminds me of when Angela Rayner gave (what was apparently) a great speech, but it's forgotten because all people can remember is that she rounded it off y calling Tories "scum" ... something for which she still gets dragged all this time later.

Top comment from the DM:
"I think Labour have shot the selves in the foot with this advert. Im no lover if the
Conservatives, but to make this advert personal to Sunsk is abhorrent. He has 2 young
daughters himself for goodness sake. Now who looking like the nasty party. If Labour
want to be taken seriously, then they need to grow up and behave like a future
Government, not deal in gutter politics."

Starmer is making false promises about cracking down on knife crime and rape , well he'll say anything to get in power.
I'm not a fan of this government, but I don't trust a word Starmer says either.

I don't think it's a Sunak issue personally, but I can't be the only one to have noticed that within the last few years that there seems to be a sly effort to downplay the severity of Paedophilia within our justice system.
And tbf the Tories have been the party in power over the last decade, nevermind the last few years.
