I’m somewhere between options 2 and 3 personally. I can’t legally drive without glasses (I can’t see license-plates from 20 metres away without) so I have no choice but to pop them on behind the wheel. The difference between me and people who just wear glasses to drive is that my tendency to wear them outside that extends a little but it happens only occasionally/sometimes. I get by without them when I can help it. People are more used to me being two-eyed anyway so.

Yeah I'm pretty shortsighted without glasses - think my prescription is -3.25 in one eye and -3.5 in the other. I used to always wear contacts but got scared off it a bit when I ended up in the eye hospital with an ulcer on my left eye which was apparently caused by overuse/misuse

I might go back to having a pair for occasional use though as glasses are a nightmare for sport

A lot of medications come with the side-effect of blurry vision so when it’s like that someone’s already-existing tendency to wear glasses occasionally/for certain things exaggerates to the point where they actually really need them day-to-day. I’m not quite at that stage but ever since I started taking a certain tablet my eyesight’s definitely gotten worse compared to how it was a year or two ago (beta blockers ironically seem to help) but then again I wore glasses virtually all the time when I was like 12 so it’s not like I’m not used to having to be four-eyed at times.

I might have to look into them if they’re any more wearable in bed (I’m always lying down when I’m in bed) than regular spec’s.. One place I definitely can’t wear glasses is in bed (the way I use it most of the time anyway) because they’d just get squashed onto the pillow.

I have no idea what my exact prescription is but I know my glasses have to be ordered because they don’t have the strength I need in stock by default. Going off of that it sounds like a mystery that I can get by without glasses most of the time but I guess it’s just what I prefer. I have the kind of face that’s better-suited to just being two-eyed so I’m naturally 50/50 about when and where I wear them when I don’t have to.

That ulcer business sounds nasty.

But I’d say the people who use their beds just for sleeping and … frisky stuff are in the minority. Netflix and iPlayer in bed characterise most of my Friday evenings.
