Countdown until someone reminds us St George was Middle Eastern and never visited England :joker:And fish and chips is Portuguese. And tea is Indian or from China.

Sadly they can't help themselves, they're just very, very xenophobic. So it's just an annual tradition we have to get used to.

But Happy St Georges Day to all the English TiBBErs

It's a bit daft that St George is the only Patron Saint of the UK not to have a Bank Holiday.

I just googled it and St David's Day isn't a bank holiday in Wales either. Scotland and Northern Ireland do for their patron Saints Day (and obviously the republic of Ireland for St Patricks day but we aren't part of the UK)

Don't worry we get that on St Patrick's day too, he was Welsh yes yes we know, there is no requirement for the patron saint of a country to be from that country, this isn't the US Presidential Election :fist:

Anyway Happy Georges Day English folk

I can't remember if it was here or on another forum I said this, but I really wouldn't kind St Edmund being reinstated as our Patron Saint.

He lived in England, was a king (of East Anglia), and isn't remembered for the possibly-fictional slaying of a mythical beast :joker:

Although some psychos would probably think replacing George for an Englishman would be "racist"

Tbh there's not a shortage of bank holidays in this time of year.

Ideally I do think that the day of a Patron Saint should be a bank holiday, but I can see why it isn't.

Another reason to bring back St Edmund :D

They told Police
they would turn around.

But instead, they went into a fast battle

Was
debated, last night on Ch4HDnews
and Newsnight BBC2HD

What better way to celebrate the day of your nationality than to go out and be thugs picking fights with police and attacking horses

a fraction of the rioting that happened in many cities to "celebrate" Eid

and let me remind you how the police reacted to that incident in comparison

Celebrations went on as normal.

As I stated already

They said they would turn around
but instead, they started attacking the Police.

So a previously agreed march
but they went back on their word
