Interim manager Cristian Stellini has been sacked by Tottenham Hotspur after less than a month in charge.

Ryan Mason, who had a spell in charge when Jose Mourinho was sacked in 2021, takes over.

The decision comes after Spurs were thrashed 6-1 at Newcastle on Sunday, a performance which chairman Daniel Levy said was "wholly unacceptable".

Stellini, 48, was appointed on 26 March after Antonio Conte's 16-month spell as boss came to an end.

The defeat against Newcastle, where they trailed 5-0 after 21 minutes, was a significant blow to Spurs' hopes of securing Champions League qualification.

"It was devastating to see," added Levy.

"We can look at many reasons why it happened and while myself, the board, the coaches and players must all take collective responsibility, ultimately the responsibility is mine."

Everyone on Friday night: 'Arsenal are a nothing but a banter club.'

Spurs: 'Hold my beer'

How do you fire an interim manager? There is only one banter club. 'Its the history of the Tottenham'

I never thought that a team could be worse run than Blues.

They have had top Managers + Kane, Son, Eriksen, and Bale at one point or another, and yet they can't/couldn't do anything but they think it'll all change with Ryan Mason at the helm?:joker:

No offense to Ryan Mason, but Levy is a joke.

No offense to Ryan Mason, but Levy is a joke.Great point but I have to add one thing. They had Gareth Bale and Luka Modric - don't forget him - at the club at the same time and still won nowt.

Two of the best players of this generation. Ten Champions leagues between them.

They are the only banter club. Its the history of the Tottenham.:laugh::laugh:

going back even further, they had ossie ardiles, paul gasgoine, gary lineker, david ginola, teddy sheringham, klinsmann and glenn hoddle. When you list them like that, it's crazy

Oh yeah, Modric is still a great player now imo.

It's truly shocking how Tottenham haven't won a trophy over the past 13 years.

It's not so baffling. Levy has made a lot of money for the club but let's take a look at the trophy cabinet. It seems the business model is more important than the trophy cabinet.

Tbf I think it's a balancing act, because in the years to come when Man City lose their owners for example, they'll more than likely go through a lot of debt due to paying so much money on players to win them trophies.

However admittedly Tottenham are maybe not spending enough on their squad in the right areas, their midfield in particular looks a bit average compared to most of the current top 10 in the table imo.

sgbPLLj-I1UIncredible interview.

So, what we thought was true is indeed true. Daniel Levy meddles, gets too involved in transfers and has vetoed transfers that could have helped Spurs.

I bet what this bloke is saying is merely the tip of the iceberg.

Nice stadium though. So, every cloud etc.:laugh:

The Levy stuff starts at about 4.50

I watched this live this morning, even Simon Jordan was like :shocked:It explains alot. If Harry Kane doesnt move this summer I want him stripped of the England captaincy cuz hes' clearly a loser who like losing.

IT also explains why Conte and Jose couldn't do anything at Spurs.

the board always get involved in transfers, so it depends very much on specifics. For example Ronaldo going to Man U wasnt the managers wish, it was ... make sure city dont get him, which turned out to be the biggest help they could give the opposition
