No, I won't be partaking of any celebrations.

NOR will I be taking up the invitation to the public watching to join in and swear allegiance to the king and his heirs .

A change that's been made for this Coronation.

All the town's and villages around here are doing something. We're busy making a crown for the kid's crown competition... Looking forward to it.

Yes, pushing the allegiance is going to split our nation

MPs have to swear allegiance to the King. How about when you're eventually elected?

Actually Livia.
I don't agree that MPs should swear such an allegiance to the monarch.

An MPs oath should be in my view, an oath to respect the full rules of parliamentary procedure and an oath of allegiance to their constituents.

It's ridiculous in my view, the one place the Monarch cannot just walk into is the Commons.
Because of turbulent history.
It's therefore not appropriate in my view, for those elected democratically by the people to have to swear allegiance to the monarch.

However that is how things are in place so IF anyone wishes to represent the people in the Commons, then that oath has to be done.

As I'm still just an ordinary citizen, then I don't need to take that oath at this time.

Come any day I may stand and possibly get elected, then to represent the voters who have, and even those in the constituency who haven't voted to send me there.
Then to represent them in that scenario I'd have to make that oath.

However I do admire too the MPs from Sinn Fein who will not come to parliament because they refuse to take that oath.

Where did I say they would?

However it should be, certainly as to the Commons.
Voters decide who goes there.
No one should be barred from representing those voters by having to swear allegiance to someone who IS NOT even ALLOWED in said commons.

I'm not really sure with certainty that oath will remain relevant as to the Commons at some time in the future though.
Although it will take some major reform of Parliament for it ever to be possible to change it.
Very sadly.
