Sadly it is typical in Africa

But this from the Ugandans is evil, and I personally won't respect that.

The Uganda High Court today
has upheld their 'aggravated homosexuality' Law.

It is their Nation
They have their own Laws.

If you visit Uganda,
respect their Laws.

[KAMPALA, April 3 (Reuters) - Uganda's
constitutional court on Wednesday refused to annul
or suspend an anti-LGBTQ law that includes
the death penalty for certain same-sex acts,
but voided some provisions it said are inconsistent
with certain fundamental human rights.]

A Great Nation.
Once Part of the British Empire

But sadly for many years
a Terrible Political Power
now backed by their own strict churches.

[Uganda was ruled by the British beginning
in the late 1800s and it gained independence on
Oct. 9, 1962.

Before independence, Uganda was ruled
from London, with British governors
appointed by the Queen's government.
But after 1962,
it saw self-government based in Kampala
and by run Ugandans]

I mean obviously from basically everything I've posted on the subject here in the past several years, I agree that there are heavy child safeguarding issues with gender ideology being introduced to children and anything sexually overt in an age-inappropriate way (although I would very strongly argue that there's no element of sexuality in there - it applies equally to heterosexual inappropriate material - and I'm also not a Jesus thumper or a puritan, it is OK or even important for older children to understand what sex is and who does it with whom in the real world).

However.

Trying to make out that ... erm ... really anything AT ALL ... is more of a clear and present risk to kids in the USA than firearms, is just factually and statistically false.

20% of deaths of under 18 year olds caused by firearms, and overtook car accidents as the #1 cause of death in childhood in 2020.

The statistics are absolutely insane.

For some additional context (that Sheriff will be pleased to hear I've just dutifully Googled), the UK stats are:

#1 Accidental injury (including road incidents)
#2 Cancer
#3 Intentional self-harm (including suicide)
#4 Neurological disorders
#5 Cardiovascular and respiratory disorders

... ... in the USA

#1 Guns

I mean come on...

Well they are unquestionably dangerous but - unlike gunz - they are unfortunately necessary.

Really though I think the primary thing to focus on is that people aren't driving cars into children on purpose (usually). An accident is a very different stat to an intentional killing.

Beatings to death or stabbings to death would just become the main killer if we took away the guns. At least theres chance of being a quick death with a gun.

They're not though, deaths from assaults of any kind don't even make the top 5 in the UK. Accidents and illness, that's it. Unless you're saying that American people are inherently more violent than people in the UK which I doubt; the available means makes a difference to the number of deaths.

I wouldn't deny that school shootings specifically have become an odd and scary cultural "phenomenon" and that, most likely, there would be a rise in other types of attacks (such as improvised explosive devices) BUT that's only because it's such an established psychological quirk of US teens now. If it had never started, it wouldn't be like this.

Beso

You only gave us the top 2 killers in the usa...so with the remaining 3 probably being illness. It shows the usa has a far superior medicinal cabinet than the UK.

…’Uganda bans all gays…’….and yet according to the International Centre for research in Women in Washington… in Uganda more than one third of girls still marry as children….and in some regions more than half of girls end their childhoods through marriage…./…adults marrying female children is perfectly legal and encouraged …so long as those adults are male, obviously….

He has young children

It still doesn't change the fact that he uses the "think of the children" motto that 95% of the far right tends to always play on.

DeSantis knows what he is doing with that argument, because obviously most people don't want to encourage something that might be harmful to kids (or allegedly so.)
