View Full Version : Live Earth

This Saturday at 5.30pm on BBC1, acts like Black Eyed Peas, Snow Patrol, Madonna, Razorlight, Metallica, Chilli Peppers and more are doing Live Earth, to raise awareness for climate change.

I think it looks really bad tbh, so much lack of advertisement.

There seriously is a lack of advertisement - I heard about it just, after you mentioning it! Sounds like a good line-up though, and for a good cause. Maybe it'll be a surprise... e.g. people tune in, and it turns out fantastic! (Well, you never know!) I'll probably tune in, now you've mentioned it.

Really? I only just heard about this now!

I heard about this months ago when the Spice Girls re-uniting was first on the cards and this was meant to be their first live gig together. I take it they aren't doing it anymore... if they were I'd imagine stronger advertisement.

I hope they show the American leg, I want to see the new Pumpkins line-up. Certainly a better line-up than that Diana nonsense last week.

The whole concept of the gigs is a joke to be honest. I'm probably not the first person to point out the hypocracy of private jetting pop stars around to "raise awareness" about the deterioration of the o-zone layer (and let's be honest everyone has recognised this problem except for Dubya)

Sounds really good IMO, long so will cover loads of acts. :thumbs2:

I can kind of remember something about live earth but it didn't even occur to me what it was when i read about it couple of days ago. It really hasn't been advertised well.

Btw it on from 12:30pm - 4.05am :shocked::shocked::shocked: lol

Liked Genesis, Snow Patrol are doing OK, Razorlight were a bit disappointing. Looking forward to others

Lauren

I think it's really boring... none of the acts seem into it, the crowd don't seem into it... Alan Carr was reading from an auto-cue (travesty ).

Edit: Ok... the audience seemed a bit more into it when Snow Patrol started playing.

LOL he just stopped mid-way and said "Come on, move the auto-cue down love" and he wasn't looking around at the audience, was just looking straight down.
Having said that, Kasabian were the first good act I've seen there today.

MarkWaldorf
07-07-2007, 03:09 PM
Don't blame him, they're bloody hard to follow.

(And no, this isn't when I tell you I'm an international TV presenter. =D)

Having seen Muse at Wembley a couple of weeks ago I must say that the sound quality is very poor. Kasabian sounded shite compared to at Glasto. Didn't think much of Tom's shirt either!

Haha Chris Rock swore just before RHCP came on :nono: Naughty.
RHCP and Kasabian have been some of my faves so far, but Bloc Party top them (I've seen them live and met them, I'm a bit bias - but I've seen Kasabian live too).

Edit: Omg... Linkin Park at Tokyo, bloody amazing. They could've made this huge if they'd advertised more.

I'm not a huge rock fan, but i was pleased with RHCP performance. I also liked Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars.

The organisers seem to have wanted a rock type concert which is ashame. I'd prefer to see...

- Elton John
- Take That
- George Michael
- Scissor Sisters

..I'm currently watching the Foo Fighters rock the stadium.. awesome performance!!
..i've missed most of it, but i'm looking forward to Madonna later.

people are grumbling that the show is a waste of resources, but i think the positives far outweigh the negatives.

i think thisis a rubbish event, not advertised and has no real outcome!!

Madonna is closingthe showand she apparently creates 10x the amount of Co2 than the average british person.

Not a good luck. its a sh*t and pointless event!

With support from the U.S. Green Building Council, creators of the LEED Green Building Rating System, Live Earth will implement new Green Event Guidelines. All Live Earth venues will be designed and constructed by a team of sustainability engineers who will address the environmental and energy management challenges of each concert site, as well as the operations of sponsors, partners and other Live Earth affiliates. Each venue will not only be designed to maintain a minimum environmental impact, but will showcase the latest state-of-the-art energy efficiency, on-site power generation, and sustainable facilities management practices.

Ok.... I have a few things to say about this event.... yes its a very important cause and its raised some major issues that need to be addressed before its too late BUT the carbon footprint this has left must be astronomic.

How did all the preformers get there..... with their dancers.... hair people...makeup and entourage????

I am sure that most used gas gussling aeroplanes and big people carriers to transport them to the venue. How many people around the world traveled to this event? How much was there carbon footprint?

How many of the performers traveled by private jet???? Not very eco friendly

yer but think about it they have tried so many things to make people listen about global warming and how to change and it has NOT worked!!! So if over 10,000 events 9 of which are massive concert if that doesnt help well nothing will and then it will be to late. so before you critisis them having just think why thay have had to have concerts. and in answer to your question the concerts were extremley evirmentaly friendly from lighting the stage to how artists travel to and from the concerts we were told not to come be car unless 100% nesscery loads of buses were put on for the event by doing this its acted as a example for how all concerts can be. and the money rasied was huge.

Between all the performers, they traveled 220,000 miles/kilometers on planes, I can't remember which - even so it's still ridiculous

not really because they all used public planes not private jets. everyone seems to think that every celeb has a private jet when they dont.
