Are you the sort of person who's likely to compile complaints about things not being done a certain way in your environment/community or workplace or are you more likely to just keep quiet about these things?

I reported a car this week that had been in a loading bay for 2 weeks

I speak up. I'll complain if I feel strongly enough. I prefer to put it in writing rather than have a chat, I'm better at expressing myself in that way.

Ditto. I don't get into people's personal business if it has nothing to do with me and isn't doing anyone any harm (grassing for the sake of grassing is one of the worst things someone can do) but I'll write up when there's something that needs attention. It's one of the things I'm good for anyway (writing) so when I'm pissed it all comes out in e.-mails/angry letters. I generally keep my cool tonally but at the same time I have no chill. But I'm not someone who generally complains just for the sake of complaining so it's not exactly of the querulous type. The context was a bit different for one particular one I made (it was way too bleak but like I say there was a reason) but it ended up going on for about 7 pages I was that angry at the situation. And I was going to send a third part in (just as long) as a follow-up. Thinking about it generally I guess you could say that I’m not the sort of person you want to take to court.

I let most things go but if I get someone on the phone or in front of me that try’s to spoon feed me with excuses then they get a right mouthful that will include all previous mistakes made by them

I like the direct approach and will always go to the person at the top or back to the person themselves

I also dont take any kind of good will offer and tell them I don’t want it all need and tends to disappoint most thinking they can buy their way out of trouble

I will say though that reporting a colleague for something is the last thing I’d do. So long as it’s not directly harming anyone I (one) don’t then see it as my business and (two) nobody likes a good-for-nothing snitch. Some people will even make reports over being spoken to by a certain member of staff in a ‘disrespectful’ way but (barring obvious unacceptable conduct like racism, or it really is completely disrespectful) it’s just one of those daily wounds you have to rub off with tea-tree and coconut oil and let go for the most part. Either the complaint will go nowhere or even if it does it’ll get someone in trouble when it might’ve just been a case of them not really knowing who you were or having a bad day. It happens, especially on a Monday morning. Certain things you just have to grin and bear.

Ditto. I roar and fume whenever the raggedy-ness of their disrespect falls back on me but once it’s been addressed it is what it is.

Even on a good day I’m pretty heavy-handed when it comes to complaints (I’ve been messed around too much to still be dead cheery about these things at this point) but if someone’s genuinely crossed the boundary-line when it comes to unreasonableness/disrespect I turn into a litigant warrior, and I’ll happily take it to court if it’s that bad.
