Ch4HDnews reports.

The Government may have to take it over.

[Thames Water plc was acquired by the
German utility company RWE in 2001.]
But now half is owned by China
reports say

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thames_Water

https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/976/cpsprodpb/13F6C/production/_130227718_thames_water_worker_pa.jpg.webp

[Thames Water is in talks to secure extra funding
as the government says it is ready to act
in a worst case scenario if the company collapses.
The water firm, which serves a quarter of the
UK population, has billions in debt and
is under pressure with its boss resigning
unexpectedly on Tuesday.

The government said "a lot of work is going
on behind the scenes" and it had a process
in place "if necessary".
Regardless of what happens,
water supplies will continue as normal.
Even if the firm were to collapse,
it would not happen imminently,
the BBC understands.]

Saw a clip on the news last night where anglers were testing the water for sulphates ( sulfates using today’s spelling) !!!

One guy explained that our rivers and streams were polluted by water treatment companies and they were surrounded by streams with zero aquatic life ….

We are in the NW and surrounded by all manner of waterways , rivers and streams , lodges and lakes .. I haven’t seen as much as a tiny freshwater shrimp in years !!

30 years ago all those places were teaming with minnows , sticklebacks, water shrimps
, water beetles etc

Sad times

I only pay £17.00 per month with the North East Water Company - NWL.

It's metered of course.

But I had an email a few days ago, saying it could be going up.

How can a company that gets its raw materials for free not make a profit?

Nothing wrong with a Profit.

But fix the leaks.
Wasting all that water.

Update all the pipes
as the old pipes are not able to carry on.
They were meant to be changed 20 years ago.

Build New Reservoirs
to store fresh water

They (the Conservative Government)
seem to be allowing them
to carry on trading with Mega Debt
£14 Billion Pounds,
the rates on paying that back,
have gone way up.

How does a company let itself get into that kind of debt, when was the last time the shareholders were paid, has the CEO had a big payout....? is their pension scheme safe? Pretty sure Thames was one of the water companies that have to pay back their customer as well.

The share holders we’re going to put up the money but in return wanted to raise the bills of customers by 40 per cent over four years but the governing body said no

Re Nationalise Thames Water

I am fed up with paying some Rich Buggers money
holiday.

Not fixing the sewer

Billions went to Shareholders
and they left the monster Thames Water,
to go Bankrupt.

have Nick Dixon reporter
Live in Hove Beach
East Sussex.
He is next to a Dirty Pipe
leading into the sea.

It pumps the sewer out from there
in amounts that do damage.

Thames Water
still afloat.

In court
they have the £3 Billion loan

[Thames Water's problems are the worst,
with debts of about £19bn.]

[Its 16 million customers are left to foot the bill
for the company's ludicrously expensive interest
charges and advisory fees.]

[Thames Water serves about a quarter of the
UK's population, mostly across London
and parts of southern England, and
employs 8,000 people.]
