I am due to have an op on mine July 29th,has anyone had this done ? if so did it take long for you to recover ? I am having a local anesthetic so will be awake,so am interested to know how long before I can use it and is it very painful after the op.I have to have both hands done but not both together.

A lady at work had it done about 4 weeks ago…she had it done under local. She was off for 2 weeks and came back to work 2 weeks ago. To be honest I haven’t really discussed it with her but I will try and get more info out of her when I see her tomorrow and report back…
Another friend had it done months ago but I don’t think it was hugely successful as she has little feeling in the tips of her fingers….but maybe she is just unlucky as she has arthritis in her hands too.

Ok…the girl from work is on a weeks holiday but she still finds her hand painful but she returned to work after 2 weeks and is on the computer most of the day but a support mat has helped.
My friend told me the op takes just under an hour…but like I said she still has slight numbness in her finger tips.
I will try and get more info when she is back next week…

I had the beginnings of carpal tunnel years back I went to the GP and he shot me with a steroid injection into my wrist, I literally screamed the place down, when I came out the waiting room looked shocked, couldn't use my hand for a week but it settled down after that, good luck Kaz

Jeez i had that in both hands for last 3 mths of pregnancy and it was bloody agony , the doctors said it would go once i'd had the baby but it didn't i saw doc again and he said if its not gone after 3 months he would refer me. It was about 4 months before i was pain free. So luckily i didn't surgery.
I hope all goes well for you Kaz.

I've just spoken to my friend , she said the 1st injection was the most painful and she also had a break before 2nd was done, couldn't drive for 2 weeks and although still painful after op sh became pain free within wks and has never had any pain since and says you'll be pleased you had the op.
