It was bought be a Wedding Planner group.

Then at a weekend it burnt to a shell.

Then the new owner got Builders in to smash it to bits

All in a matter of Days.

dodgy as anything, this happened to a pub near where we used to live, was a listed building so the builder had a lot of hoops to jump through and hey presto it got burnt to the ground

Police have Confirmed the Fire was Arson

Who did it?

https://news.sky.com/story/police-now-treating-fire-at-historic-pub-the-crooked-house-as-arson-12936122

[Police say they are investigating a fire
which gutted a historic pub as arson.

A blaze caused extensive damage at
The Crooked House near Dudley,
an 18th-century building, on Saturday evening,
two weeks after it was sold by
brewer Marston's to a private firm.
Up to 30 firefighters were needed to tackle the
blaze at the pub in Himley.

The pub became widely regarded as Britain's
"wonkiest" due to one side being significantly
lower than the other, caused by the effects
of nearby mining.

The remainder of the building was demolished
by a mechanical digger on Monday, despite
South Staffordshire Council saying it had
permitted only the top floor to be
demolished for safety reasons.]

so that is how the diggers go in to demolish it even though the front was blocked off, they had access from the land fill site.... its hardly the plot of the century I guess they will get away with it though unless they can be undeniably linked to the arson

Not exactly criminal masterminds

he new owners of the Crooked House pub hired a digger several days before the building burnt down, with the vehicle used to demolish the building.

AT Contracting – owned by Carly Taylor, who bought the historic pub in Himley, near Dudley in the West Midlands, in July – rented the digger from a plant hire firm a week before the fire, which is being treated by police as arson.

It also emerged that the fire brigade’s attempts to put out the blaze were hampered by a large mound of earth that was blocking access to the site when they arrived on Saturday night.

Former regulars and the local MP are demanding that the building, known as the country’s wonkiest pub after it was affected by mining subsidence in the 19th century, is rebuilt brick by brick after the council said it was demolished without permission.

Dogs trained to detect accelerants have been to the site to help the police and fire brigade investigate the cause of the fire, which happened just a week after an application was made to give the Crooked House listed building status.

On Monday, a large digger owned by Lyndon Thomas plant hire, based in Northamptonshire, was filmed flattening the burnt-out building, despite instructions from the local authority to pull down only a small part of the structure, which was thought to be salvageable.

The Crooked House, near Dudley, had recently been sold to its new owners.

A man has been arrested after violence broke out at the site of the demolished Crooked House.

Officers were called after a man and woman who had been assaulted got into a car and hit a woman as they tried to leave on Saturday night.

The pair then drove away but contacted police about what happened.

A 57-year-old man from West Bromwich was held on suspicion of assault and criminal damage. He has been released on bail while inquiries continue.

Another man, aged in his 40s, from the Sandwell area, was voluntarily interviewed about what happened, Staffordshire Police added.

The Himley Road site has been a centre for several protests and gatherings since the legendary sloping pub was destroyed in an arson attack and demolished without full permission

The owners of The Crooked House pub have been ordered to rebuild "Britain's wonkiest inn" after it was destroyed last year in a suspected arson attack.

South Staffordshire Council has served an enforcement notice on the owners of the pub in Himley, near Dudley.

The council said it had engaged with the owners since the demolition but had reached a point where formal action was considered necessary.

It requires the building to be built back to what it was prior to the fire.

Leader of South Staffordshire Council Roger Lees said: "A huge amount of time and resources have been put into investigating the unauthorised demolition of the Crooked House.

"We have had great support from the local community, our MPs and the Mayor of the West Midlands, and from the campaign group whose aim is to see the Crooked House back to its former glory which is the key objective of the enforcement notice."
