View Full Version : What’s your take on serving people who are drunk in a pub (W.W.Y.D.)?

Bars and clubs are there to make slosh-money off people and they really don’t care about your well-being but what would you do if you were a waiter/landlord or landlady in a pub (who legally have to put certain boundaries on how much someone can get smashed and keep buying drinks from that point)? Would you keep trying to make money off of them or actually try and sober them up with coffee/water (you wouldn’t necessarily have to send them their way, not if they’re not being aggressive/abusive)?

I voted on a case to case basis, you need some idea of how the person is likely to react I reckon. I'd definitely try to sober them up if at all possible and hope they'd appreciate it later.
If they come in honking drunk then dont serve them, but if they've been in all day let them get as pissed as they want.

I have more time for weed and psychedelics because of the spiritual-enhancement and medical benefits that come with them (and a lot of that’s undeniable) so I’m not a particularly big fan of cocaine and other stimulants if I’m honest. I never have been but I’m also very, very liberal and easy-going so I wouldn’t ever be bothered about what people are doing in the toilets or in the corner so long as they can still sort of behave themselves. I’d overlook that but any aggression or really struggling to walk in a straight line and I just wouldn’t. Maybe a half of snakebite but generally I’d rather let them have the opportunity to sober up first.

Suppose. The whole thing with cocaine isn’t something that you’d traditionally think would have to be a consideration but over the past 5 years it’s become so normalised and widespread that you just have to accept that people are going to be doing lines here, there and everywhere wherever beer-daddies and copious amounts of wine are concerned. I’m not bothered about that specifically but I am bothered by aggressive drunks (whether they’ve been snorting or not) so I’d draw the line and offer them a coffee so that they’d have a chance of getting sobered up somewhat. See how they are in half an hour.
It was ecstacy in my day. The best drug ever. Annie knows.

Ecstasy’s a potentially lethal one if you take certain antidepressants but if it’s safe enough for you, you know that you’ve got to stay hydrated (with water, not more booze) and whatnot then you do that. Pop Es if that’s the recreational half-life you want to be about.
Cocaine is boring. To dear. You need another sniff after half an hour. An E would keep you high for hours.

Pills have been around since before your time, are still going strong to this day, and no doubt into the future. The perfect clubbing drug.

Speed was also around but the come down was awful.
I used to play a game of football on a Saturday and Sunday on an E. I coundn't do that on speed.
An E makes you so confident. You could pull any bird on a night out.
Speed just gave you tiny knob.

It is £40 a bag on the cheap so obviously be careful what you buy. I’m not interested in cocaine either way but I’d at least try and get my money‘s worth.

buy anything now. If I go back to someone's house, and they pass it around then I'll take my turn to be sociable. But that's rare these days.

Pills and E are the same thing. I know what E does, but no way could I play a game of footie on it. Were you gurning at the ref for offsides?

Not the best footballer but I could defend against any player. I wouldn't stand a chance today because you can't kick an attacker now. In my day you could give an attacker a few kicks.

The beautiful game :laugh:There used to be an art to defending. It's gone now. Defending was once beautiful and always will be to me.

I would make a great landlord because I don’t drink
But I wouldn’t tolerate drugs in my venue
I find the idea of needing a substance to have a good time sad
