Hi

We have have two different surveys over the years and both said that there wasn’t enough room in the box for a smart meter ..

Just had a phone call from our energy supplier EDF who have booked us in next week to have one fitted ..

I told him the story and he said the new model has been specially developed and it / they should fit ..

I asked him what size they were and he nervously changed the subject ..

I got the impression his job was just to get a team into the house and he didn’t know a thing about the actual meters ,.

Any thoughts ?

they have the tech to fit them anywhere these days. There are pros and cons to smart meters. I like it because i don't have to provide meter readings and its helped me identify how to better manage the electric. The gas one is less useful. You use more gas when it's cold, the usage is either the hob or the heating, so i tend to ignore it

Show them your Boris posters and you'll be grand.

I prefer my old meter.
They wanted to put a new one in, but I refused.

From experience it’s electric that’s the problem not gas

We had both gas and electric on smart meters in the house we sold, where we have moved into its just the electric on a smart and the gas on the old metre, not sure if I will change it or not having the little box telling you how much you are using does focus you on energy efficiency for sure
