isn't that the issue, the immigrants were 90% documented, paid their tax and contributed to the growth of the country, flip that percentage around and you have a problem

I know this is a bit irrel but I always wondered how Canada and the USA ended up as different countries when they were both British colonies.

Those Poxy French

[Starting with the 1763 Treaty of Paris,
New France, of which the colony of Canada
was a part, formally became a part
of the British Empire.
The Royal Proclamation of 1763 enlarged
the colony of Canada under the name
of the Province of Quebec,
which with the Constitutional Act 1791
became known as the Canadas.
With the Act of Union 1840, Upper and
Lower Canada were joined to become
the United Province of Canada.]

Dear oh dear Oliver, what Brit-washing :joker:. The continental United States was colonised by Britain, Spain, France and The Netherlands, wasn't unified under Britain until the 1600's, and didn't become a country in its own right until the 13 colonies in 1776 - like 300 years after the start of colonial America.

Canada was only colonised at all by Britain and France and has a completely different political history in terms of being unified into one country.
