I don't know Tom Stade. But I don't think Stu Francis is from the UK, he's Canadian but was based in the UK. Although he is OK. Not in the league of some I put in the poll, but he's ok..

I should have really added Bob Monkhouse and Tommy Cooper to that poll.

Infact watch the show "Meet the Richardsons" which his wife mainly wrote. It's a great show. Jon is good in it but his wife steels the show. And I'm not being biased just because she from Hull.

I would give an honourable mention to Dave Allen because he was not UK, but thats where he had all his success

She's not funny Neem. She's just stolen Jo Brand's jokes about eating cake. And Jo Brand is not that funny. But at least more original tha Milican.

There's nobody as unique as Lee Evans. I watch North Americans viewing him for the first time and trying to compare him with Jim Carrey.

I'm a big fan of Jim Carrey as a comedy actor. But he's not in Evans league infront of a live audience at stand-up and trust me, Evans used to pack out huge arena's. I'd guess Carrey never played to those size of crowds in his stand up days.

I'm not saying Evans was the best, but he has to be in the argument.

Lee Evans is painful to watch, all his gurning and sweatingThat's also known as putting effort into your work.

His act wouldn't work if he just stood at the microphone like Stewart Lee or hundreds of the other stand ups.

That's why Evans was packing out huge arena's and probably the most successful stand up of the 90s

I could post a clip of Lee Evans doing a joke about cheese and onion crisps that would be funnier then anything Greg Davies or Richard Ayoade have ever done in their careers. And Ayeode was in the Mighty Boosh. Which I love and Davies was in the Inhetweeners.

They''d never get the laughs of Lee Evans buying a packet of cheese and onion from a petrol station.

You've made the point I was gonna make. Back in the 90's he was quite original but it wore off quite quicklyIt really didn't. The guy is one of the greatest. If you don't count Billy Connally as nineties then he was the best UK of the nineties for the working class. If you went to University then Eddie Izzard was your man. Or woman as it's known today.

You have to be a miserable, humourless bastard to not find Lee Evans funny.

That was his job and he was one of the best. Surely it's you who has the problem? You ever thought about that?

Why am I such a miserable bastard?

Do you ever ask yourself that?

Saw Dylan Moran live in Edinburgh a couple of years ago and he was brilliant - though of course, not UK, I hasten to add, before Niamh gets the knives out .

I also saw Russell Howard when I was at Uni. He wasn't even vaguely funny. The "unknown" guy who did an opening set for him was significantly funnier, which made his unfunniness even worse in comparison.

If we're talking Irish comedians Tommy Tiernan is brilliant

I'm not really a fan of stand-up comedy, but I like Tim Vine.

When I was younger I had a VHS of Vic Reeves Big Night Out On Tour, which was more of a variety show than stand-up, but I loved that. Wish I still had it.

It was just straight-up bad and got really awkward because he was getting a lack of laughs... I actually wanted to leave but I was near the back (it was just in one of the bars of the student union) and it would have been too obvious :joker:.

He recycles his jokes a lot, which of course all comedians do, but it's really noticeable. My major problem with both the stand-up show I saw and a lot of Good News is that most of the jokes were slightly altered/tailored versions of jokes he'd already done on Mock The Week.
