How much the launch will do with the ITV1 simulcast? 2M, 3M, 4M?
daniel-lewis-1985
26-09-2023, 09:19 AM
I posted this on Twitter and most believe its going to be 3 million plus. I think the days of 5 million + launches may be gone but the fact its launching on ITV1 as well as multiple other channels this definitely has the potential to be huge. They really need to start getting AJ And Will doing some interviews now though and upping the promo because it's been a bit meh so far imo.

I'm going with 3.5mil average with a 4mil peak across all sites, including streaming
What did the final C5 series get?
I'll be very pleasantly surprised if it's above 3m. Even 2m would be pretty decent
BigAsher
26-09-2023, 07:47 PM
What did the final C5 series get?I believe it averaged 1.02m, with ITV estimating (for sponsorship reasons) the new series to average 1.05m viewers

Thanks, I had thought it was below 1m although it must have just creeped over then
Seem to remember the launch itself didn't do too well either

Gonna go with 2.1 million.

Unless I am wrong
The highest ever launch was Series 7 with 6.9 Million
Lowest ever Launch was Series 19 with 900,000
Im guessing it will be around 2.5 Million at its peak
The Nation’s Sweetheart

Maybe 2m at tops
Ninastar
08-10-2023, 07:52 PM
Id say 12 maybe 13 people if we are lucky
I'll take a guess at a million
Just being on ITV1 should give it a decent floor, it's a much better watched channel than C5 and even C4
I'd say 2m minimum

What’s the average for Love Island?
Last years Love Island launched to 1.3 million but that show has such a massive number of people who catch up that i believe it went over 3 million?
I was expecting a bit more tbh but if it can retain a large chunk of these numbers that's still great for itv2. BB has never really had a massive catch up figure has it so i wonder this time round if it will?
Tomorrows episode should tell us how many people just casually tuned it to see what it was about and how many are here for the full series.

Agree about not having massive catch up figures. It's one of those shows you can miss a few episodes and dive back in.

I have a feeling it will drop considerably. The launch was enjoyable but missed some excitement, a very meh male cast I think.
I reckon 900-1.2M on ITV 2.

It’s very difficult to compare this with the previous series viewing figures as there are so many other channels on telly ( 1000 ?)
and other outlets like Netflix, Amazon, Paramount + , Disney .. plus our viewing habits have changed .

So as of right now, just counting ITV2 ratings for the first 2 episodes, we have an average of 962,000 viewers; which isn't bad considering that the first episode also aired on ITV1; and people 16-34 like to stream things.

Get on eBay or Facebook marketplace and get a nowtv or Roku stick to turn your tv into a smart tv.

I'm not looking too deeply into the overnights, which aren't a good indication these days anyway.
Just from doing a little digging, I believe this summer's Love Island was lurking around the 1.0 million mark but officially averaged around 2.5-2.7 million, correct me if I'm wrong.
I don't think Big Brother will add that much on, but I'm hoping for a 400-700K bump when Barb release the official ratings which includes catch-up, streaming and ITVX etc.
I'm hoping it can match the 1.6 million benchmark that Channel 5 set.
What do you all think the officials will be?

Only 800K for first eviction show
Oh dear that's poor. I don't think they trailed the fact it was an eviction night enough tbh, no mention of it on the Thursday HLs and unless you watched the aftershow/checked the app you wouldn't know who was up until the eviction show itself
Vanessa

I'm not going to stress about the ratings. We have the show for two years.
They can always change things next year to improve it.
Billy
14-10-2023, 01:03 PM
The ratings are for sure a disappointment- even taking into consideration the multi-channel launch and potential catch up viewers the show has lost 600k live viewers over the week.
It’s such a shame because it really is a fantastic series.
Vanessa
14-10-2023, 01:12 PM
It's a mistake to have it on tv2. In my opinion it would do so much better on itv1.
Notice how it lost viewers since it switched channel.

I'm sorry to see the ratings dip to this, it's possibly one of the best series in years! I'm sorry to say this, but if ITV do not get a grip of this, then this will possibly be the last ever revival we will ever see of BB.

That's amazing news! Hopefully these 800K-1.0 million overnights will convert into 1.5 million officially.

Black Dagger
17-10-2023, 01:09 PM
It’s their longest run yet. 36 episodes and we are only on episode 16 I think so will probably finish after Big Brother.
Ratings remaining steady and even increasing slightly a week in once people know the format and what they are going for can only be a good thing. There could have been a massive amount of "To hell with this, there's no influencers and it's all gone woke" or "Now that I've seen it's still just Big Brother I'm off" type switch-offs but it doesn't really look like that's been the case. It's handy because they've really actually nailed the casting for the most part and I'd dearly like them to stick to these guns for future series.

The thing is unless it’s consolidating 2.6 million I don’t think we’re going to get any official figures. Interesting to see Sundays have become the lowest viewed show where as back in the day it was always the highest.
These are fantastic for itv2.
Massive ratings with catch up and these don’t even include ratings deon other devices.

Wow that's really good for ITV2.
It would definitely get more viewers on the main channel. But I think they'll be happy with that.

Yeah, this is fantastic. The fact that the show is getting more viewers in just the first week's official ratings than some episodes of last 2 series of the C5 era.

I follow supertv for most ratings but they do seem to inflate the overnights on occasion and then post exaggerated info when officials are announced. For instance Today they have stated all shows have doubled overnight figures and all added over a million without devices which simply isn’t true.
This is roughly what’s been added without devices according to another account (essentialbbuk) which seems more realistic

Sorry I posted the wrong image. Updated now.
This is what was said “Week 2 figures EXCLUDING devices are still over DOUBLE the overnight figures:”
There were reports of overnights of 950 and 900k for that week which would mean over double would take the officials up to 1.8/1.9 it’s just not true.
Ah okay yeah they are twisting the truth a little bit there then
around 1.5 million is very respectable for an itv 2 show in this era

It’s a double eviction so there’ll be at least 3 people up.
If Dylan is also up this could be a huge eviction this Friday plus it’s on itv1.

Damn right, the rest of us will just wait for Noky's own show which will follow this series closely I think

In that case .. if Trish and Noky are evicted then Friday will be my last show then
At this stage I’m not even sure I trust the production team as regards the voting numbers ..
They seem daft and unpredictable enough to manipulate the result just to get good viewing figures for Friday night .. even if it means sacrificing a big character like Trish

Great rating for last night. I think regardless of who goes, the show's likely peaking either way this week with the current tension so may as well just enjoy it when it lasts. You'd struggle to think of a season that didn't slow to a halt in its closing weeks.
Considering how much TV viewing habits of changed, I'd consider this a ratings success. BB 10 was doing 2.5mil averages and that feels like several lifetimes ago.
It should be enough for them to go "Good, more of the same but bigger and better" next season instead of completely ditching the casting practices and going back to those awful C5 years.

Big Brother climbed again last night to 942k viewers (7.2% share). Remember Tonight is broadcast on both ITV2 and ITV1 so ratings are going to be interesting. Tonight’s episode also looks set to be explosive so a great time to grab the casual viewer

Zizu, please stop complaining in the ratings thread and do it somewhere else...
In the grand scheme of things, last night's eviction has given us the highest overnight ratings since Week 1.
We've got an overnight average of 912,000 viewers. To say that this second revival is dead on arrival is complete bs. BBAU's second revival between its latest 3 series has seen worse ratings than what we're seeing in 1 series.

Would have expected a bit higher considering it was on ITV and ITV2.
I think they should focus on perfecting the show and stop pushing for views.
The way the evictions are executed and the interviews are awful.
It seems quite strange to be airing it on 2 channels at same time.
Made a lot of sense for the launch as it was revived after 5 years and it once was a massive show.

I’m presuming ITV aren’t happy with the ratings hence why they’re pushing it on ITV1?
If you take into consideration what the show was getting in 2017/18 it’s done alright. Anything around 1 million overnight is decent for ITV2.
Will.

It got 769K on ITV1
And 681K on ITV2
Really low for ITV1, they should just leave it on ITV2. I’m sure ITV1 have something else to air at 9PM which would get far more views.
Would be shocked if they continue to air it on ITV1

It’s true, why wouldn someone tune in now
Not sure what ITV are thinking, there coming across as desperate imo. No need to air it 2 channels at same time
It’s doing decent on ITV2, just let it be
Maybe they just didn't really have any prime programming lined up, for the last few weeks they've had the rugby world cup to show on weekend evenings

Last weeks 1 million and 1.45 million should bring this average up. I think the last 2 weeks are going to rate well too.
We have gone from 700k/800k overnights to it consistently being in the 900k+ overnights and the finale has every chance of rating between 1.5 and 1.9 million.
This is going to be the highest rated since BB11 by the looks of it and a massive increase of BB19’s 1.07 in officials.
I did hear ITV were hoping for a 1.03 in officials so they’re going to be more than happy with these and the online engagement has been massive.

Great to see the ratings growing as the series goes on, opposite of what I thought would happen

contrary to my historic feelings, the twist last week, really knocked the show up a level. It just shows when things are done right, they work

Big Brother remained above 900k again last night with 907k. It’s also beaten MAFSUK the last two nights which had 871k and 874k #BBUK

With Trish gone will be interesting to see if figures go down as lots of fans have said they won't watch anymore.

Mmm not great, 200k down on last Friday's
Anyone know what Thursday got?

It’s still a good rating. Who thought BB would be getting over a million in overnights again and we’ve had 3 in the last few weeks. The official average is going to be roughly 2 million compared to BB19’s 1.07.
It’s also beat MAFS twice this week and last night it was up against Gogglebox so I’m sure that damaged it.
Thursday was 870k apparently but this week has rated highly overall.

Is that when devices get added? Most officials so far have been around 1.6m so they'd need to add a fair bit?
It has rated well overall yeah, I thought this eviction would be really highly anticipated though and do just as well if not better than last week

The current official average is 1.81 but the last few weeks have seen a big increase in overnights with 3 episodes hitting over a million and most this week hitting almost a million. With devices added apparently that should increase by 200/400k.
I’m usually critical of ratings but this has been a successful series.

Fair enough, hopefully ITV are happy with it and can grow it next series. Really hope the civilian BB doesn't become an afterthought now they're bringing back CBB

Josiah.
11-11-2023, 02:07 PM
1. Over 920,000 for the overnights average for the series so far.
and 2. Ratings are not going to haemorrhage just because of 1 of the fan favourites leaving.

Quite low considering there still airing it on ITV and ITV2.

Yes, but in the grand scheme of things, it’s actually pretty good considering that we’re now in the final week of BB20.

I think it should stick to ITV2 but if showing it on ITV1 brings in more new fans then I am all for it. Where do the ratings even get published?

Big Brother still has life in it. I get so fed up of seeing its success based on ratings compared to how it fared back in the day. It’s been around for 24 years now. People also don’t watch TV like they used to. It’s extremely impressive.

The spin off show on ITV2 at 10.15pm beating a lot of the ratings that the highlights on C5 were getting at primetime

OLLIE97

It's rated well. With device data it'll probably be the most watched series since BB11 (2010).
Josiah.
16-11-2023, 04:36 PM
An overnight average of 932,000 viewers, with just today and tomorrow left of the series. Not too shabby considering 95% of the episodes have been on ITV2.

OLLIE97

872k (6.9%) according to Broadcast. Think tonight's final will have a combined 1.5m.
daniel-lewis-1985
17-11-2023, 02:55 PM
This weeks episodes have been boring tbh so whilst it was good we had a few episodes over 1 million I’m not surprised people turned off. Not a massive drop though and it’s rated consistently all series.
Even those ratings beat a lot of the ones from 3/4 weeks ago. Yesterday's might have done better if they'd advertised the eviction a bit more than a 30 second mention at the very end of L&L
daniel-lewis-1985
17-11-2023, 07:58 PM
Predictions for tonight’s finale? Personally I think 1.3.
Will.
17-11-2023, 08:58 PM
Yeah I reckon 1.2/1.3
Sounds like it good be a predictable final
I'll go optimistic with 1.6m
Will.
17-11-2023, 09:01 PM
I can’t imagine them showing it on ITV1 again
I think it would be to be getting 2M overnight for that
For low 1 million on both channels not worth it

I guessed 1.3 so basically spot on. It was up against children in need and the football. Overall the series has been a ratings success but saying that the finale deserved atleast 2 million.
Not great but why would you watch it if you hadn't followed the series
What have the last few finals got on overnights?

BB19 1.01 officially it was under 1 million in overnights. BB18 1.11 officially.
I don’t know how much the officials will add to this finale but it does seem to have an audience of about 2 million however Ide assumed more people would have tuned in to see the winner crowned live.
It’s not a good rating let’s be honest.
Okay cool so the official for this final should be at least 50% higher than those. That was also 5/6 years ago and TV viewership has gone down a lot even just since then. I read that ten years ago over 20 million were watching live TV between 9-10pm and now it's only half that
But yeah still a bit disappointing. What did the MAFS final get?
Josiah.
18-11-2023, 05:21 PM
Overnight ratings average for BB20 was 939,000 viewers. Not bad considering how it fared against MAFS and Bake-Off (amongst other shows). And compared to BB19's overnight ratings, the ratings were significantly better.
MTVN, you aren't wrong there. I mean the BBUS25 final got like 3 million viewers, when the BBUS15 final from 10 years ago got like 6-7 million viewers.
Will.
