Paul mentioned that he wanted Jenkins to win as he has been through a lot in the last few years. Have they ever said what this has been?

What a lovely thing for Paul to say. He should be proud of himself for putting that pint-sized bully in her place.

Trish would have been that student or teacher who bullied you in the first year of high school and then said nothing in your final year because you grew to be much bigger than them.

When sat with the panel Paul mentioned he had been championing men’s mental health in the house, and that both he and Jenkin ‘had been through it’ over the past few years. That is the reason he wants Jenkin to win. We haven’t seen any of that - which makes me question the editing - but I don’t believe he would make that claim if it wasn’t true.
No one is just black or white as regards personality. Good people have bad points and bad people have good points.

They have both shown themselves to be completely untrustworthy and capable of gross exaggeration

Thank you for a sensible reply which is on topic. I haven't watched it all so thought others may have seen a chat or clip on it as I was curious what he had been through.
I know there was a Dylan and Paul mental health chat also which also never got shown.

Well there’s been about a hundred hours of live feed as well and we’ve seen nothing like that from Paul

Ugh I thought Jenkin was annoyed for his lack of sleep and lack of consideration from Paul. Wish he would preach what he said. Probably his "championing mental health" was through the booze he was stockpilling.

I’m disappointed with some of the responses to what Paul said. I think we sometimes get caught up in the thought of housemates being one-dimensional characters rather than real people, all of whom have good and bad points. Consequently, we can see no bad in those housemates we support and no good in those we don’t like. We subconsciously search for confirmation bias.
I don’t really like Paul - I have found him annoying, gross and immature from the edits we have seen - but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a story and some decent qualities, particularly if it turns out he has suffered from some mental health issues. And, although Jenkin can be a bit of a bitch and a moaner, in my view, there have been clear signs of depressive tendencies. He also had the integrity to vote Dylan over Trish because he didn’t approve of the way she was treated. He has been one of the few who has tried to calm things between housemates having vicious arguments- the voice of reason - and despite his friendship with Paul, he has been willing to pull him up on his behaviour.

Great post Garfie, I dont really think its very healthy to turn HMs in villians as is happening with Paul, he obviously had decent qualities as well as not so decent ones, a narrative was driven by the edits..... I thought it was interesting that Matty seemed very upset that he was leaving yet we never once saw Paul with Matty apart from when Yinrun took him for a massage and it ended up with Matty doing it which was just odd as we didn't see what led to him taking over from Yinrun

I think as well Paul looked visably emotional I thought when coming out. With things that have happened with other TV shows (love island suicides etc) the aftercare for everyone on these shows is crucial. If everyone was as nice as pie we wouldn't have a show. Sometimes the biggest housemates are the ones who are controversial.
I also noticed Matty and Paul hugged twice and Chanelle was in tears. Plus in the eviction show Dylan agreed about the mens mental health.

To be fair Paul in particular has been awful in the live feeds ( around a 100 hours so far )

Thank you, GlitterUK. I do believe both have suffered from mental health issues, as I don’t think that claim would be made otherwise, and we just don’t know what each individual’s story is. It’s not fair to dismiss Paul as a liar, given the amount of young men in that age group who suffer with such issues, and given that is also the group which has the highest suicide rate.
It’s a sensitive issue, that deserves to be discussed seriously, rather than dismissed. It could well be a sensitive issue to a good number of forum members.

Having a hard life should make you humble and appreciate the little things you have in life
My honest opinion of is
He is a fat lazy lump that thinks the world owes him something
Stealing drink and try to take yinruns one box of biscuits show he a greedy self centred pig

Been through a lot of food maybe
Jenkin ( along with Tom ) were abhorrent in last nights Live Feed
They both deserve a tirade of boos when they get kicked out

But, Zizu, we haven’t actually seen a hundred hours of footage. Take away the adverts and we probably only see about 45 mins of a 24 hour day. Even on live feed there is so much censoring that most of the time it doesn’t actually give us much extra. Just because we haven’t seen it, that doesn’t mean that it isn’t true or that it didn’t happen.
And, in all honesty, we know that BB likes to shoe-horn housemates into certain caricatures of themselves, and that they like to push certain storylines. That is often evident from their highlights after eviction, when we see footage that gives a different impression of the evictee to the one we’d had.

Fair comment. You're right that housemates are not cartoons but are all people with their flaws and with their positive traits. I don't think Paul is evil or anything like that but he let himself down big time in there and will hopefully reflect on that

You're right about aftercare, I think that's why they have to be a bit delicate in the interviews now and be fair to the housemates rather than hauling them over the coals. Some allowance does have to be made for the pressures they're under in there as well
In answer to the op I don't know about Jenkins struggles but he did mention he was on benefits so has possibly had some employment struggles
It might also be that Paul meant he'd had a tough time in the beginning of the show and misspoke a bit

Exactly. I noticed that too. The goodbyes suggested there were closer relationships with a number of housemates that hadn’t been apparent before. There was a very long, affectionate hug between Paul and Matty, and Matty was clearly upset in live feed, and he was chatting with the garden group about his feelings.
Add that to the fact that he chose Jenkin to win, over Olivia or Paul, and their goodbye as he left, this suggests that we have missed a lot of footage between the two of them.

I know you have watched all the live feeds, as I thanked you for posting your summaries, which I enjoyed reading.
Whilst not watching as many hours as you - and isn’t it 3 hours a night (11pm-2pm) - you have to admit that, although the live feed exists, there is a massive amount of the conversation that is covered by bird song, and some interactions we don’t see as the focus is on other housemates or other conversations, or covered up with images of an empty BB house.
That considerably reduces what we are able to see in the 3 hour slot. But even if the camera focused only on Paul for the duration of each live feed, there would still be over 20 hours of each day we wouldn’t have seen.

Thank you, MTVN. And I absolutely agree that Paul let himself down. He didn’t come across as at all appealing to me, but that doesn’t prevent me from acknowledging that there is more to every housemate - and every person - than just their negative traits.

Garfie Paul was gross from day 1 , his idea of the BB experience was keeping everyone up all night.....as he steals alcohol & food :bored: .
Aswell as burping and farting .
