He was in charge of the team between 1994 and 1996.

Wow, it only seems like yesterday he was a middle aged man.
So I was shocked he was 80 years old. Life is so short.
Very sad news. RIP. :(
1996 is probably the best Summer of mine and those English people that lived it, lives.
What a time that was. Pre 9/11 and everyone just partying.
This anthem came into our lives for the first time and now we know it has aged very well.
Tel was our boss at that time. Everyone loved Tel.
His team didn't stand much of a chance going into the tournament. But they came out of it by probably should have winning it. Only some close shaves and a penalty shoot-out denied probably the best team of that tournament.
That night match when we beat Holland 4-1 at the old Wembley and the atmosphere that night was special.
RIP Tel

Wasn’t there some story circulating that the players weren’t to keen on something ( tactics or strategy) and they over-ruled him and were right ?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk ProNever heard of that myself but It's possible. Nothing wrong with that though. Terry wasn't a tactical manager. He was a man manager. Brian Clough was also a man manager rather than a tactical one. As was Sir Alex. A good manager will always listen to their players. Because they're the ones out on the field living the experience.
Memories have faded, and people remember the good things, which is nice and really how it should be
This is why Tony would be in the centre of my defence in my all time England XI. He goes the extra mile. A great leader.

Great little documentary this one. Only about 45 minutes long. Well worth a watch for an England football fan if you've not seen it.
