View Full Version : The filthy , cynical, thuggish players thread

Just thought they deserved a thread .. currently I’d say Coufal and Joelinton ate the worst?!?!

The worst of recent times is obviously Pepe … I thought he’d retired but he apparently got another red card recently for punching an opponent

A Leicester player tried to break Buchanan's leg last night.

I don't remember his name, but I think he was one of their full backs.

no one is worse than Rachid Bouaouzan though

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=458513&cc=5901

In his first and only season at Go Ahead, Kokmeijer was seriously injured by opponent Rachid Bouaouzan playing for Sparta Rotterdam on 17 December 2004. Kokmeijer's leg was broken badly and he was forced to retire from professional football. Sparta Rotterdam suspended Bouaouzan for the rest of the season, which was more than the ten-match ban the KNVB awarded him. Besides that he was taken to court by the Dutch government and Kokmeijer for battery, a unique moment in Dutch football history. Bouaouzan received a suspended six-month jail sentence

he literally ended Niels Kokmeijer's career

was so shocking to see back then how he broke Kokmeijer's leg, and Kokmeijer as of today still has trouble walking

Another cynical tackle by Cash in the last minute to stop a breakaway .. sadly it looks like he’s hurt his own shoulder plus he misses the huge game against ManU with a suspension. . Shame

Ahh it was Samedo who’s not a dirty player by any means .. he’s a converted winger to RB .

It looked late and painful but not malicious ..

Not a Coufal / Joelinton type assault

I’ve seen people sent off for similar though https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20231224/cd3f7c408daafa342f9541065e170cc1.jpg

This is the Sunderland website’s reaction to that ‘tackle’

::

Luke O’Nien’s performance

“Most of our players were missing in action but one lad who certainly wasn’t was Luke O’Nien, who gave a real captain’s performance and did everything I’d expect of him on such a massive occasion.

The tackle on Lewis Miley was unfortunately too late and had something like that happened in the opening few minutes of the game, it might’ve helped to swing the pendulum in our favour.”

He took out his standing leg and the player hobbled out of the game

This amended the tackling rule that it’s not enough to just get the ball first and then take the man .. they have to tackle responsibly.

Sadly the officials have gone back to the seventies and anything goes

The difference is intent. Tackles are part of the game. Sometimes tackle are harder than others. There was no malice in the challenge. Unlike awfully rough and vicious teams like Spurs and Newcastle who want to break legs and shorten the careers of their opponents.

There doesn’t have to be malice or intent nowadays … they are not allowed to get the ball then carry on through the guy .

Ben White did one of those earlier on in the game

Jurgen Klopp was baffled by the failure to award Liverpool an injury-time penalty as his final Premier League meeting with Pep Guardiola delivered another scintillating and controversial epic.

Jeremy Doku’s 98th-minute lunge on Alex Mac Allister went unpunished by referee Michael Oliver and was deemed fair by VAR Stuart Atwell, ensuring the title chasers shared the points in a 1-1 draw.
