View Full Version : True Detective- season 4/Night Country - Sky Atlantic/January 15…
…I think that it’s Sky Atlantic that it’s streaming on, I’ll amend that if it isn’t and I’ll check if I have that myself and am able to watch…the release date is January 15…

Yes good first episode.
I am not so keen on the back story,
But the old lady was guided by a ghost.
Alaska has troubles, like many other USA places.
Good, they sent a Helicopter to search.
A lot of product placement
co-funding this.
Clever to film in Iceland
cutting costs
…I won’t look at your spoiler, Arista….as I think I’ll wait until the complete series has been aired and then take out a subscription to binge it all…the reviews have been pretty excellent, though…one review saying that it felt as good as the first series…

Wtf!? Why is True Detective adding Fantasy elements?

I do not think they are.
Many people in Remote Places
get like that.
Loads claim to see the dead
around the world.
Is this worth trying !!??
I loved the first series but couldn’t get into the second or third one

Yes it is
not for children, though.
It is real tough in Alaska.
Strong Femail Cops
It's quite good although I'm not a big fan of the supernatural angle
The lead character is also very unlikeable so far and basically just treats everyone like dirt. Are we supposed to respect that

Fair enough, tbf I was being a bit hasty with my criticism, I do apologize for that.

I don't think we are, she's supposed to come across as very flawed and unlikable I think and they've given glimpses as to why she's like that
…the main thing running through all seasons is how flawed and layered the detectives are …and I always thought that was why the title ‘True Detectives’ because they’re not the ‘hero/good guy/woman’ characters as has been built by their depictions in the past…these are very flawed people who tread the fine line between the law and unlawful….

Yeah definitely. I especially think this season is most similar to the original one in that way with the lead detectives
Nothing comes close to that first series

Yeah that's true. This series has really grown on me actually and the last two eps have been brilliant
On the topic of flawed characters I even feel for Hank and think he was just too easily exploited but didn't want to be such a bad person. His son really is the only one who seems pretty blameless and yet has ended up the worst off and I guess that's just how life is sometimes

I haven't watched the Season yet.
But I do personally like the sound of flawed characters in the Show, it beats Netflix removing character flaws from Sokka and Aang in Avatar: The Last Airbender Live Action Series.:joker:

The dreaded words for current TV.
…I like the supernatural aspect…I think in that stark environment with such a lack of light and the many days of night etc it would cause such poor mental health that a belief in ‘evil spirits’ could be something that was easily believed in…
…I’m thinking that the researchers/scientists were the ones who killed Annie K…raped and killed her…?…and one of her loved ones killed them all in revenge…
…I hadn't figured it to be Navarro who killed the guy that killed his wife, I thought it would have been Liz…
…thank you for reminding me to watch this, Arista……it was a very good watch and very much back on track with the first season which I loved…

It was, wasn't it? Definitely the best season since season 1
…I liked the supernatural/superstition type vibe to it very much because I think in that kind of stark lifestyle it would be very easy to believe so much in terms of folklores etc…especially with the many days of night as well and that then blended with alcohol because what was there to do other than have a drink etc…
