This shouldn't be possible - someone ****ed up and wasn't paying attention.

…maybe judges and some other court official attendees will have to be behind a glass security screen so they’re protected in the open courtroom…

i thought most defendants were behind a security screen, which makes this impossible. I guess he wasn't behind a dock which is what caused the issue

He was not under arrest at that point

It was a sentencing hearing, normally the person being defended would be being watched by court staff like a hawk because there's a high risk they'll go for the judge. Things like this happen all the time (for obvious reasons; emotions are running very high when people are getting put away for years) but normally there'd be security on top of him before he got anywhere near the front... let alone up and over the table.

He was about to be hand cuffed and it was a split second decision
And to leap over the judges platform was something out of an action movie

…that’s the thing, I was reading that an attack on a court judge is almost a daily thing in the US…I guess this is more attracting the media attention because of the attack itself with him diving over the bar and lunging at her…that’s a first, I think…(…hopefully a last…)…

…yeah, you can see from the opposite angle video, from his side…that he wasn’t behind a screen…

…actually the judge was Mary Kay Holthus…Deobra Redden was the one who attacked her…he had apparently refused to attend his previous court hearing and had been ordered to attend ‘by any means necessary’…whatever that would have been…

thats insane, the judge moved quickly to her credit, you would think if this is a regular occurence that the accused would be in handcufffs or there would be some screens put up to stop it

I've seen loads of these attacks on Court Cam. No one watch that? Scary... The ones that make me laugh are when the defendant gives a big speech saying how they have changed that it was a moment of madness, that they've found God now and will never misbehave again, and the judge says, thirty years. Suddenly all the defendant's new found serenity e x p l o d e s.
