Morrison had become a virtual recluse from the music scene, holed up in the mansion that his six million album sales had bought him – literally building a high gate to shelter himself from the outside world.
Only now has he finally emerged from that self-imposed exile with the release of a long-awaited new album. And only now is he able to speak of the demons that he has fought in his extended spell away.
It was the deaths of his father, brother and nephew within the space of three years that made him reluctant to return to the limelight, and in his powerful interview with The Mail on Sunday he reveals how work kept him from hearing his father’s last words to him.
And although it was his love for his own daughter, Elsie, that ultimately saw him through the dark days – he discloses the heartbreaking news that his dream of having more children may also be dashed.

MailOnline revealed today that Gill was looking for a property in the Whitminster area of Gloucestershire on the eve of her death - the fourth family tragedy Mr Morrison has suffered in recent years. Gill had also recently spoken of her 'ups, downs and heartache' after a kidney transplant.
The life-saving operation came around the time her popstar husband, 39, returned to the limelight with a greatest hits album and festival appearances. He has had several long breaks between hit records and has spoken about his grief following the death of his father, brother and nephew after he became a star with his breakthrough song You Give Me Something.

…this is very, very tragic…she’d apparently had a kidney transplant last year and I read that she spoke out to help others struggling with difficult times and issues in speaking of her own ‘ups and downs’ as she called them…they’d been together for 20 years, since he was 17yrs old…in 2010, James lost his father who had struggled with an alcohol addiction through his own life…and just after his father’s death, he also lost an older brother and 21yr old nephew…all very, very sad…their daughters now having to struggle with the loss of their mother…
there can't be many things worse than coming home to find your partner has taken their own life. How do you get that sight out of your head

Yes that image would be etched into your mind forever..
Years ago when I was younger we were playing footie in the local park .. the ball went into the bushes / trees .. one lad went in but could find it so a few others went in to look and came out screaming !!
They had found a guy ( a local bloke ) hanging from a branch !!

It does appear that they had grown apart over the last 6 to 12 months though …
