Yes but how long
until it's in a working car?

Until this is more the norm I still don't think electric cars are fully viable yet. I'd have one as a 2nd car for like running the kids to school or popping to the supermarket, but I wouldn't be driving down to Manchester in one as things are currently. Big ol' motorway diesel please. 1000 miles is maybe overkill but I'd say, as a reasonable benchmark, 400-500 mile range (so similar to a full tank of fuel) and full fast charge in 10 mins maximum seems reasonable. Though I think the concept of battery-swapping seems like the most sensible long term approach personally (basically you don't keep the same battery, it would be a standard battery that gets removed at the station and replaced, then your old one gets charged and put in someone else's car once it's at 100%, and so on).
