Sweet. They'll go back to being dross. Best news I've heard for ages.
To think, this time last year they were talking about sacking him. I was daring them to do it. I'd take him as Arsenal manager any day. Actually, lets go for that/. Replace Arteta with Klopp.
Jesus !!
I hope to Christ he goes to save my beloved Barca !!
I reckon they already have his replacement lined up …
Ex Liverpool legend ..

He could make the short trip up the M62 to Manchester if he wants
I reckon that means Salah will leave at the end of the season too.

We didn't even have to wait for your manager to leave before you went back to being dross :smug:
Already said he'll never manage another English club after us.
Sad news. What he did competing with city, and hitting 97, 96, and 99 points in 3 straight seasons, despite being on a budget lower than west ham, villa, Brighton etc, is probably the greatest achievement in PL history.
Has to be Xabi Alonso to replace him as he currently destroys the bundesliga with Leverkusen.
He's protected our owners for the last decade, and returning to mediocrity will really ramp up the FSG out calls.

His teeth will still be visible from germany, so he will always be with the team

Alonso hasn't won anything yet. He's also childhood mates with Arteta. Appoint Alonso and you may be getting another Arteta. They admit to having similar ideas on how the play the game. Not sure if that a good thing or bad thing

if liverpool fall apart in the run in, it's going to be very sweet. We have no idea what effect this will have on the players

i actually don't think Pep will be far behind him leaving city
Completely shocked. But the earnest reasoning is about what you'd expect it might be once you absorb the headline:
“It is that I am, how can I say it, running out of energy. I have no problem now, obviously, I knew it already for longer that I will have to announce it at one point, but I am absolutely fine now. I know that I cannot do the job again and again and again and again.
“After the years we had together and after all the time we spent together and after all the things we went through together, the respect grew for you, the love grew for you and the least I owe you is the truth – and that is the truth.”
Part of the shock is the what he's doing right now is arguably the most impressive work he's ever done. But then you think back to last season and there was games where you were worried he'd just hit the deck on the touchline. I joked a few weeks ago with my dad that it was going to be a real kick in the balls when he gets a heart attack in the next few years. Evidently he feels that himself.
Utterly irreplaceable. A sad day for the neutral's favourites and media darlings.
Consequentially I'm going to be in Liverpool for his final home game! So delighted with the minor personal historical relevance of that.

if i were Xabi, i wouldn't leave Leverkusen tbh, he's doing fab currently ahead of usual rulers Bayern Munich and money team RB Leipzig
i can see Klopp going back to Dortmund, his one true love, and tbh Terzic isn't exactly a superb manager currently

Patrik Schick instead of Salah  also for a decent amount of money to help Leverkusen out in their search of a proper replacement in return
and tbh even if Xabi only has one year there, i reckon Leverkusen is attractive for all sorts of managers again,
i'd personally recommend the Bodo/Glimt coach Kjetil Knutsen as Xabi's successor i think

seriously though he will be a loss to the prem but I reckon he has had some kind of health scare or doesn't want to get one, bit of an odd time to announce it but then I guess there is no right time really

No.
Probably favourite for the Europa league, and possibly slight faves in the carabao, but you'd have to be mental to think they'll finish above 115 charges FC, and possibly even Arsenal..

I don't think Arsenal are quite there yet, and Liverpool's overall squad depth - bizarrely - is probably better than City's now assuming they come back to full strength and manage to keep it close enough to that level.
Running rampant after Christmas is what they do, but I wouldn't rule Liverpool out of it at all. Liverpool historically tend to use emotion and circumstance as that weird final push moreso than finance and firepower, and Klopp's era coming to a definite close is quite the push.
Joe Gomez wins it for us at home to Wolves with a ****ing screamer.
i couldn't call the winner of the league this season, i think a lot will depend on how far they all get in europe because that will stretch resources

Xabi Alonso, in 2018:
“Yes for sure, I have dreamt of [managing Liverpool]. But first, I have to prove myself. My link, my commitment, my passion with Liverpool is there.”
if half the liverpool squad leave at the end of the season and there isn't any money for replacements, there may not be many willing to take the job on
Thank you for the memories Jurgen... you German ****.

We have a new team, and both Arsenal and city are both underperforming compared to last season.
It's not an impossibility, but I'm way too scarred by the memories of city just winning every game for the last half of every season, and we aren't at the same level to keep pace. Throw in some dodgy reffing (which city never seem to suffer with for some reason ), and it's not really very realistic.
If we're still top in March when city come to Anfield, and then we beat them, I may change my mind but that's currently a long way away.
This man on pens as soon as the league places are sorted

Why would you think half the squad is leaving? Salah is the only one slightly up in the air, and players are desperate to leave? Just doesn't make any sense.

It's sad tbh as he is probably the most charismatic Manager in the Premier League at the moment.
Plus not only did he make Liverpool a really good team that actually won trophies (instead of being a nearly team like Arsenal and Spurs) he actually managed to make Liverpool a team to root for, especially if you don't want Man City to win everything in sight.
Liverpool really will miss his presence next season.

Why would VVD leave ?
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk said he is unsure if he will be part of the post-Jurgen Klopp era at the club.
Klopp, who will leave the Reds at the end of the season, signed Van Dijk from Southampton for £75m in January 2018 and the 32-year-old defender's contract at the club runs out in summer 2025.
Asked whether he saw himself being part of the next era, Van Dijk said: "That's a big question. I don't know."
He added: "It will be the end of Jurgen Klopp's era. I am still part of it, that's why I don't like to talk about it, and that is my main focus.
He will follow Klopp imo.

He’s got nearly 18 months on his contract though. .. probably just contract negotiations
Why on earth would he leave this pool of fabulous players

it's just inevitable that some will look for new challenges when klopp leaves. There is no guarantee of liverpool success, even if they get the best manager available, that's not how it works in football. The same will apply when Pepe leaves, and i don't think that will be very far in the future. 1 more season maximum

I mean, Klopp has been excellent for Liverpool, all the big clubs around Europe will be on alert. What if Klopp goes to Real Madrid and asks VVD to come along?!

He already said this was taken out of context and wasn't about him leaving but more about if the new man wants to keep him and if offered he will sign a new contract
