I have a friend who has just split up with his partner and he's moving out but is looking for a cheap flat.

What does it mean when it says £135 per week rent, all bills included?

Surely if you're a high energy user £135 per week won't be enough. What's to stop someone racking up huge bills?

Thanks.

Anything that is like that will be a HMO or room in a shared house so assume they will have factored in possible variations in energy use etc

I doubt that's for a flat to yourself in London!

:joker: All depends where you live. In London £135 per week will get you a public toilet.:joker:

Up North, £135 per week is average.

Not anymore it's not, unless it's a room in a HMO or room to let in a house.

There is a letting agent who works in my building (in Salford) and the cheapest flat the have to let is £850 per month in a less than desirable area.

Rents have gone crazy

I saw a sign in a house window that said "looking for people, new HOMO" and laughed my whole way home.

450 to 550 per month to rent a flat here.. it comes with the freshest of fresh air, all free if you open your windows. Guaranteed low noise emissions, so open windows are not an issue.

like Annie says if all bills included then that is it...if it says something like 'fair usage' then there is a problem because one persons fair is not anothers.

…I’m sorry for your friend’s relationship situation, Gusto…I hope they find somewhere affordable and that they can feel settled in…

When I retire I might move to Scotland. It just looks so peaceful and the rents are more affordable.

Thanks. They'd only been together for a year but they had high hopes. :(

Yes.

Not the greatest of areas. But all clean, one bedroom/lounge, small bathroom.:hee:

Wow that's crazy, you'd be talking 4 times that minimum here for a place to yourself.

It's definitely a possibility. We own a house there.
