Actor and comedian Ewen MacIntosh, who starred as Keith Bishop in The Office, has died aged 50.

MacIntosh was best known for his role in Ricky Gervais' sitcom which became an instant comedy classic when it launched in 2001 - and led to the creation of a smash-hit American version.

It was Gervais who led the tributes this morning, posting on X: 'Extremely sad news. The very funny and very lovely Ewen Macintosh, known to many as 'Big Keith' from The Office, has passed away. An absolute original. RIP.'

Utterly tragic.

Why so many youthful celebrity deaths recently?

RIP.

His role on the show was small, but his scenes always had me rolling with laughter. That character didn't give a toss about anything happening around him. We should all strive to be like big Keith.

R.I.P.

Well the US version ran for so long, so of course you're going to get people who grew up with it and who are more familiar with it. And it wouldn't surprise me if most of the people who prefer it over the original are American themselves. Personally, while I think the US version is okay for a typical American sitcom, it doesn't stick with me or makes me laugh like the original did. Certainly doesn't keep me coming back to it like the UK version. And in general I'm someone who thinks Gervais is overrated.

The UK office did not show in the USA

It isnt a typical US sitcom

It is comparable to the UK version in many aspects

It went on for perhaps 2-3 seasons too many

And "Gervais" is certainly not over rated

:spin:

A show directly based on the UK Office is in some ways comparable to the UK Office?

Well, I never. :eureka:
