Prince William unexpectedly pulled out of attending the memorial service for the late former King Constantine of Greece, where he had been due to give a reading.

Kensington Palace said this was because of a "personal matter".

Queen Camilla led members of the Royal Family at the service at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.

The King, who is being treated for cancer, was also unable to attend the service.

There are no further details of the "personal matter" that kept the Prince of Wales from being there on Tuesday morning, but royal sources have indicated there is no cause for alarm.

…it’s William’s godfather as well…?…so I guess that it’s a pretty important personal thing that has stopped him from attending…it’s not connected to Charles’ health, though…

I mean he could have the squits the Royals are not immune, or one of the kids is unwell, they are dropping like flies these days though, thank Gawd for Camilla keeping the ball in the air

….Thomas Kingston, the husband of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent's daughter has died…Lady Gabriella is the cousin of William and Harry…so maybe the death is connected to William’s last minute change of plans earlier today….?…

Thomas Kingston: Husband of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent's daughter has died…

Thomas Kingston, the husband of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent's daughter Lady Gabriella Kingston, has died suddenly aged 45.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: "The King and the Queen have been informed of Thomas's death and join Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and all those who knew him in grieving a much-loved member of the family.

"In particular, Their Majesties send their most heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Gabriella and to all the Kingston family."

Mr Kingston, 45, married Lady Gabriella in 2019.

A statement made on behalf of Mr Kingston's family also said: "It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the death of Thomas Kingston, our beloved husband, son and brother.

"Tom was an exceptional man who lit up the lives of all who knew him. His death has come as a great shock to the whole family and we ask you to respect our privacy as we mourn his passing."

Emergency services were called to an address in Gloucestershire shortly after 6pm on Sunday, where they found Mr Kingston had passed.

An inquest will be held to establish the cause of death. There are no suspicious circumstances and no other parties involved.

Earlier on Tuesday, Kensington Palace said Prince William pulled out of a memorial service due to a personal matter.

He had been due to attend a service for the late King Constantine of Greece at Windsor Castle, but less than an hour before the St George's Chapel memorial was due to start, it was announced that William would not be present.

Prince William unexpectedly withdrew from a memorial service for the late King Constantine of Greece at St George's Chapel on Tuesday, over an unspecified "personal matter", but it is understood that was not connected to the news about Mr Kingston.

I have to say Wills must be feeling more sensitive to it all, atm. Between the sudden illnesses with both his father and wife. The proposition of being physically closer to the throne and then also having to worry about his wife. Fergie's sudden illness. Harry's probably less than genuine jaunt across the pond to capitalize and the crazy media blitz associated with that. This new thing occurring and now an actual death near to the family.

It's a lot to bring home all at once and he must feel like these bombs are going off all around him and he sits there at the epicenter with a lot on his plate. It's just more additional extra things to process is all. Whatever the personal matter is, it's not my business, but I hope that he and his family are getting on fine.

Something is definitely wrong.
We've had plenty of pictures of the king since he left the hospital.
Kate leaves the hospital on the same day and not one picture since?
I'm really worried for her.

It's fairly evident that something is going on that they don't want public - what that might be is speculation, but they're holding something back.

He looked absolutely horrendous in that "swaying" clip that was posted before... and yes he'd just had bad news about Charles, but we've seen Chuck since and he doesn't look to be on death's door, and (frankly) it would be very unusual for someone to be completely floored by an ill-health diagnosis of their 75 year old parent... he's young in comparison to how old Liz and Philip lived, but objectively, he's not a young man. My dad only turns 70 this year and if I get a missed call from my sister past about 9pm I just assume he's died :joker:.
