Gary is trying to go down the Chantelle Houghton route

I feel like Gary is trying to gain some advantage by saying he isn't a celeb? I mean he is right he isn't but I feel in his own mind he thinks he is...if that makes sense :laugh:

He seems to think he's some sort of everyman that viewers will all be able to relate to. 'Just a normal bloke'. But actually he comes across very annoying and a bit self-obsessed

…I can’t see that at all tbh…Chanelle didn’t have any famous connections so far as I recall…she was there to convince or persuade other celebrities that she was one too…and the delicious irony of it all was that the only non celebrity won…Gary’s ‘route’ I think is name dropping and trying to wear ‘celebrity’ by association…I mean, probably a huge percentage of viewers know someone who knows someone or is related to someone…Gary knows the media interest in Royals and he’s using that for his own gain…

…tbh, in thinking about it…I think the route that Gary is trying to go down is that he’s aware that any criticism of the Royal family by Meghan and Harry has gained a media and public disapproval etc…it’s created a negative, shall we say….so his route..(..to me…)…or his strategy…is a constant praise of how wonderful they all are and we’re we aware that Kate is his niece..?…and oh what a lovely lady and married into a lovely family, don’t you know….and looking for a surge of positive public and media favour …(…and the earnings that go with that…)…

He’s certainly milking his connection to the Royals as Kate’s uncle. He’s written paid articles for the Mail - all very complimentary of the Royals but he doesn’t need the money so he seems very much to want to be a celeb. (Or he's not the millionaire he claims to be). :suspect:

…I honestly don’t think that he thinks he’s a non celebrity…he’s just trying to appear humble because he thinks that’s the thing to do…his words of telling his wife that she was a nothing/a nobody are still in my ears so to me that would indicate that he feels superior and of very self importance …and ‘elite’…anyway, enough Gary for today…Thursdays are far too lovely to spend energy on him…
