TiBB Music Festival: Toronto 13
1 & 8 June 2024
Official Wikia: Click Here! (https://channel-tibb.fandom.com/wiki/TiBB_Music_Festival_13)
It is time to let the competition begin again! I, with Shaun's knowledge AND Riley's (Wizard) lovely ideas, decided to create a spiritual successor to TiBB Eurovision.
Welcome to our Sanctuary. Welcome to Toronto. What songs will be heard? Where are the constant translations into French? When will the madness end? No idea.
Past editions of TiBB Music Festival:
Pittsburgh 01 (August 2019) - (Winner: Australia, ceremony starts p.4) (https://www.thisisbigbrother.com/forums/showthread.php?t=360098)
Gold Coast 02 (October 2019) - (Winner: Serbia, ceremony starts p.2) (https://www.thisisbigbrother.com/forums/showthread.php?t=361665)
Belgrade 03 (January 2020) - (Winner: Norway, ceremony starts p.4) (https://www.thisisbigbrother.com/forums/showthread.php?t=363207)
Oslo 04 (March 2020) - (Winner: United Kingdom, ceremony starts p.2) (https://www.thisisbigbrother.com/forums/showthread.php?t=364908)

Pittsburgh 08 (February 2021) - (Winner: South Korea, ceremony starts p.4) (https://www.thisisbigbrother.com/forums/showthread.php?t=370459)
Pittsburgh 09 (April 2023) - (Winner: Sweden, ceremony starts p.2) (https://www.thisisbigbrother.com/forums/showthread.php?t=384033)
Stockholm 10 (May/June 2023) - (Winner: Czechia, ceremony starts p.2) (https://www.thisisbigbrother.com/forums/showthread.php?t=385245)
Prague 11 (August/September 2023) - (Winner: South Africa, ceremony starts p.3) (https://www.thisisbigbrother.com/forums/showthread.php?t=386652)
Johannesburg 12 (January 2024) - (Winner: Türkiye, ceremony starts p.2) (https://www.thisisbigbrother.com/forums/showthread.php?t=389499)
Format:
The format of the TiBB Music Festival will remain similar to TiBB Eurovision, however, there are some changes. I will have a Spotify playlist of all of the songs for you to listen to the songs during the voting period.
Voting:
The voting system from the first few editions returns. Every country will each give out two sets of 12, 10, and 8-1 points; one for the jury voting, and the other for the televoting. The Rest of the Forum vote returns as well, but as an extra set of 12, 10, 8–1 points in the televote.
Rules:
- If you want to take part, reply to this thread with the countries you want! But please, if you do reserve a country, I expect an entry.
--From this edition onwards, everyone can choose between 1 and 3 countries to participate as.
- In a change from TiBB Eurovision, participants can now choose a song that is already in the public database (look on Spotify or YouTube, there are plenty of songs on either one).
- Lyrics, an artist name, song title AND music video are all that's required.
- Entries must be submitted to me as soon as possible. The voting portion of the contest will take place over the course of a 1 week period.
- And for the first time since Globalvision, countries that are not in Europe or Australia will be able to participate.
You have as much time as you need to find your entries. Please find songs that we all may enjoy, and please don't feel afraid to take part The more entries, the more fun it is to run. Songs can be about anything you like, and whilst we are fairly liberal with what is deemed "in good taste" obviously a song containing 30 different death threats may well find itself lost in my inbox and doomed never to enter.
The winner of this glorious festivity shall also receive a supply of Anastasia Beverly Hills cosmetics a spot in the TiBB Music Festival Hall of Fame! - so if that isn't motivation to bring your A-game, I don't know what is.
Like last edition, the Big 6 (the top 6 of the previous edition) will all qualify for the final. All of the countries mentioned below will be free game. From now on, the UK will be split into the 4 nations of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. Because of the war in Ukraine, Belarus and Russia will not be selectable until further notice. Because of the war in Gaza and tensions in the Middle East, Israel will not be selectable until further notice.

I'm thinking of putting the contest on hiatus once again due to lack of forum interest.
Too many people are focusing on other threads and debates and not focusing on light-hearted stuff like this.
Josiah.
17-05-2024, 12:12 AM
And we're back on, and with a modified logo and a visual design inspired by this year's Eurovision (as controversial as it was). However, to not have issues like ESC 2024, Israel will no longer be selectable until further notice. The voting has returned to how it was in the first few editions; and the Rest of the Forum vote will be returning, this time as a part of the televoting points.

17-05-2024, 03:57 PM
Because of a severe lack of interest (and people not really caring about this anymore), TiBB Music Festival 13 is officially cancelled until further notice.
I've tried so hard to make this fun, and now its just dead in the water.

Whilst we wait for a certain someone to return, I have news about the voting video.
First, like in the ninth edition last year, individual jury votes will be revealed country by country. Second, I will be appearing on camera at the start of the voting in a ESC executive supervisor kinda way to help kick off the voting. Third, the interval acts will be Ana Golja (who participated in the first and tenth editions) and Avril Lavigne (who appeared in the second edition). And lastly, like the jury voting from last edition, the televoting results will reveal the 12s for each country who received them.
I am excited for the fun and music shenanigans to begin again.
…oh it all sounds incredibly exciting and spectacular, Josiah……

————————————————————————————————————————————— ————
Kate! Vanessa Cherie Nicky91 You can vote by sending me a private message.
You must send in 2 sets of 1-8, 10, and 12 points (one for jury, one for televoting). You cannot vote for your own country. If you are participating with more than one country, please send each country's votes in separate PMs (example: send a PM for the Danish jury and televote and another PM for France's jury and televote). If you do not vote, your votes will be replaced by aggregated results. To other forum members, if you plan to vote in the Rest of the Forum vote, please rank all songs from 1 to 20.
Voting closes at 5.59pm on Friday (not the 14th like it says in the video).
Good luck to all and...

Yeah. I hope something bad didn't happen.
Josiah.
04-06-2024, 09:29 PM
Okay, because I know the results video is gonna take a while to edit (mainly due to the scoreboard), I am closing the voting.
Unfortunately, given Nicky's multi-day absence; I have had to replace his votes with aggregated results.
See you all on Saturday at 8pm for the results; because judging from the 11th edition's results video having 2 songs for an interval, it'll take some time to process on Google Drive.

I have a question about the Big 6 rule that I introduced in the 3rd edition.
Should I continue doing the Big 6 as the top 6 of the previous edition, or should I change it to the 5 countries with the highest average number of points and the host country, or should I abolish the Big 6 rule entirely?
And in turn, if it's the latter, should the 5 countries with the highest point average have the average based off of their average through all editions or their average through the last 5 editions?
Mystic Mock
07-06-2024, 02:34 AM
What do you think would work best?
Josiah.
Josiah.
07-06-2024, 02:37 AM
As much as I like the constant changing of the Big 6, it would be nice to have some permanency with the Big 6.
Josiah.
07-06-2024, 02:50 AM
And looking at the averages (including the soon to be disclosed points of this edition), the United Kingdom, despite last participating in the 10th edition in lieu of the individual nations, has the highest average of points either way.
Mystic Mock

(click the picture to watch the video, and please watch the whole thing as its 25 minutes; and then come back to this post)
————————————————————————————————————————————— ————
Congratulations to our winner!
To be completely honest, I was not expecting the US to be the first two time winner of this, and I definitely was not expecting Sabrina Carpenter to become the TiBB Music Festival's Johnny Logan and Loreen and end up winning twice.
And because of the United States hosting the ninth edition last year, the US will be passing hosting duties to the 4th place country, France.
I also have a change for the Big 6: The Big 6 will now be the host country and the 5 countries with the highest average number of points throughout the contest's history. This means we have a more permanent set of countries for the Big 6, and if one of the top 5 average countries is hosting, I will refer to this group as the Big 5.

Well done to the USA/Sabrina Carpenter on the win.
Tbh it's a catchy song.
And thanks to Josiah for holding the contest, you imo did a great job.
And I've got to also say that I forgot how catchy Avril Lavigne songs were.
Josiah.
08-06-2024, 03:02 PM
Thanks everybody; I'm actually surprised some of you actually watched all 25 minutes of the video.
And based off of the all time average of points throughout the contest's history, I figured out which countries will be the Big 6 for next edition. Joining Australia, France, Norway, and the US as automatic qualifiers are Angola and Czechia!
The top 10 for highest average of points are:
1. United States - 217 pt. avg. (Big 6)
2. United Kingdom - 213 pt. avg. (no longer participating)
3. Australia - 201 pt. avg. (Big 6)
4. Angola - 199 pt. avg. (Big 6)
5. Czechia - 195 pt. avg. (Big 6)
6. Norway - 185 pt. avg. (Big 6)
7. Albania - 184 pt. avg.
8. Ghana - 178 pt. avg.
9. Philippines - 172 pt. avg.
10. Russia - 169 pt. avg. (banned from participating)
…well done to the United States, the U.K. and Australia…a great top 3……thank you for making this really very special, Josiah…you made it such a joy to be part of…you really are a most excellent host……
