[Polish meat giant supplied superbug-infected
chicken to UK shelves]

Was on ITV1HD Lunch news

[A major meat supplier to UK supermarkets
is sourcing chickens dosed with antibiotics
linked to the spread of deadly superbugs,
raising the risk of future outbreaks
of life-threatening disease,
the Bureau of Investigative
Journalism can reveal.

The Polish meat giant SuperDrob is
sourcing chicken from factory farms
that use medicines classified as
“critically important” to human health,
despite the grave risk this poses
to consumers. SuperDrob sells frozen poultry
products to Lidl, Asda and Iceland.

The company was linked to a
fatal salmonella outbreak in 2020 – which TBIJ,
the Guardian and ITV can now reveal
involved bacteria resistant to
multiple drugs – and there were at least
15 salmonella contaminations linked to
SuperDrob poultry in the 18 months
that followed.]

I've been putting out the PSA on TiBB for years that Aldi and Lidl chicken is rotten :hmph:. If it doesn't stink it'll have bone fragments in it.

I eat lots of chicken, and since Sainsbury's and Tesco's chicken is now jelly like, chewy and generally bloody horrible, i go to Waitrose to get my chicken. It's the only thing i go there for, once every 3/4 weeks, i spend about £50 on their chicken and turkey and freeze it. It's well worth it, such better quality. Wouldn't be able to afford my weekly shop in their though :joker:

We’ve always bought our chickens from Tesco used to be 2 for a fiver

Not sure what we pay nowadays

Shove it in the oven ( cook it upside down)

Scrumptious

Yes I have no idea what's happened to chicken generally - from the mainstream supermarkets if you want edible chicken the best bet is mini-fillets (the internal muscle of the chicken breast). The full chicken breasts it's 50/50 if it'll be hard and chewy on the outer layer (disgusting).

Don't they now pump the chickens full of some agent to make them grow faster or something? Either way, the taste and quality has dropped dramatically in Tesco and Sainsbury's.

So now we have to ask the chicken it's nationality before we eat it?
