And I guess the difference between Russia and Israel is that Russia invaded an innocent country while Israel responded to an horrific attack, the murder of 1200 people and the kidnapping of hundreds more. They are two entirely different actions.

I said in the other thread that I'd never argue that the Russia and Israel situations are the same or even particularly comparable, it's more baseline than that - I think you can either exclude an entry on political grounds, or keep politics out of it. As soon as the answer to that political question becomes a "maybe" then a can of worms is opened and various countries would be seeking for each other to be expelled. Someone (and who?) would have to define the "line" that can't be crossed.

It's a song contest so - in my opinion - the easiest and most obvious solution is simply to keep politics out of it entirely, and also make it a rule that the songs/campaigning around the event isn't political, and that political figures and organisations within countries shouldn't be involved with the acts in any way.

"Separate Eurovision from State", essentially. (For the mostpart) it works with The World Cup/Olympics etc. so it should be the same thing here IMO.

It's they same as sport really, politics is not supposed to enter into it but if other countries refuse to play a country unless they are thrown out, there is no alternative.

However lets not forget that a world cup was hosted by Qatar and all the teams were happy to compete even with all the human rights issues in full view.

i am not one who is ignoring or boycotting Israel at sports or entertainment events though, i have said my honest opinion of their entry for ESC, i was rooting for them at the euro quali's and will also not ignore them during olympics but one can also ask, maybe withdraw out of safety measures to prevent more terror attacks

I do agree personally.

While I don't necessarily support all of Israel's actions, I can morally understand their actions a lot more than Russia's actions, which were executed just to be pure evil.
