2012 is also a good action movie. Da Vinci code was good, Ghost Rider was shite, I don't think I watched the Hang Over part III. I liked the matrix on my first watch but less on the 2nd

Top 2 sucked, I also liked Divergent but the follow up books were awful (did they even make sequels in movie form after Divergent?) the ending was stupid. I liked Godzilla too

2 fast 2 Furious, i mean it is what it is and what they all are  Don't think I watched the GI Joe one

I haven't seen most of them but Matrix Reloaded did suck, and I liked Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - thought it was better than the recent one.

I liked Godzilla 1998 too.

Agree with the list about Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen - first one was alright.

I liked Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves.

Didn't like the 2010 Alice in Wonderland much.

Maybe people thoyht Prince of Thieves sucked at the time but saying it sucks in movie history context is so objectively wrong - it is a CLASSIC for so many reasons - and the parts of it that are dumb/schlocky are part of what makes it such a classic. Alan Rickman's Sheriff of Nottingham is absolutely iconic cinema :joker:. American Robin Hood. Christian Slater's terrible acting. It has Morgan Freeman. It's extremely racist. Bryan Adams for cryin' out loud. It's a quintessential example of early 90's cinema IMO.

I think some people think cinema has to be high-brow so be "good" - it really doesn't, all it has to be is entertaining.

Like I can also appreciate why a lot of people don't like Batman vs Superman but from an objective standpoint, some of the imagery is gorgeous and there is some excellent physical choreography (Batman scenes) as well. It's over-long and some of the plot points are daft but it's not without merit. That applies to a lot of these films IMO. I'd put Matrix Reloaded in the same category, too. Do either Matrix 2 or 3 live up to the potential of the first movie? No, absolutely not BUT there is nonetheless some gorgeous cinematography, atmosphere, costume design etc. to be enjoyed in there, in both The Matrix and Zion scenes.

Thinking about another movie I'd plonk right alongside Prince of Thieves as a movie that is, on the face of it, dumb as hell BUT is at the same time classic cinema and a perfect example of cinema history...

Armageddon. Is it conceptually stupid? Yes! Is some of the acting bad? Sure! Does it have some truly bizarre dialogue? Yep!

But does it have Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck inexplicably drilling into an asteroid to save the world, Russian stereotyping, a classic ensemble cast of ruffians, and MFing Aerosmith? Yes it has all of those things and is just perfect for all of that.

Ben Affleck talking about how he told the director dumb the concept is is hilarious

Christian Slater was the main reason I watched that movie multiple times :fist::laugh:

…and Waterworld and Bodyguard and….

Dances with Wolves, Waterworld and The Postman - the holy trinity of 3-hour-long Costner epics :joker: :joker:. He plays exactly the same character in every one of them but it's so deliciously 90's. Like this could not have happened in any other decade. No one would have allowed it. Yet, there they are :flutter:
