He had appeal,
and lost.
Each bag plastic, costs 30p
he used loads of them.
It was Filmed.
Debated on Ch5HD 2nd show
Yasmin Alibhai Brown - press lady
said she no longer shop there.
Ridiculous. I used to manage a shop and never paid for my bags and always told my staff not to pay for them either :hee:
We'd just write off any phantom stock periodically which at cost price would be pennies

The Problem is they are Bags for Life
Strong Plast Orange.
So if they split
you can go in and swap it for a new one
30p bags these days are the thin single use bags, that's what customers are charged for them. Bags for life are a few quid
Sainbury's has gone down hill fast in the past few years

by far the worst bags are the green COOP ones and the best of the cheap ones is Farmfoods
Yeah those co op ones are crap
The best are the Morrisons paper bags. You'd think they'd be flimsy but they can actually carry a ton. And they're cheaper than their plastic ones
Not sure what my life has become when I'm discussing supermarket carrier bags on a Friday evening

[J. Sainsbury's worker was sacked
for taking some bags for life without
paying at the end of a night shift
after working at the supermarket for 20 years.
Niamke Doffou selected the 'zero bags used'
option on the self-service checkout as
he packed up his shopping at the end
of a night shift at Romford Sainsbury's
Superstore, an employment tribunal heard.
He was hauled in front of bosses who
sacked him after watching CCTV footage of the
incident and deciding the supermarket could
no longer trust him.]

but thats not a 30p bag
I think in Court
they used the Staff Discount price of 30p,
that is why it is in all headlines.
It can be 65p if bought by the public,

He selected the 'zero bags used'
option on the self-service checkout
So it is clear he was nicking those big bags.
He had to be sacked.
