we already knew yeah
Jennette McCurdy spilled that tea longer time ago tbh

hence why Jennette didn't even want to return for the iCarly sequel series (even if she was asked)
some stars turned out alright though, Elizabeth Gillies from her Victorious begin days to playing Fallon Carrington on the reboot of Dynasty for example
the world is ****ed. But then, i think it always has been, it was just done behind closed doors

Have been aware of Dan Schneider's noncery for a while, Jennette McCurdy ("Sam" from iCarly / Sam & Cat) has spoken about it and writted about it in her autobiography, she was also on the Louis Theroux podcast a while back. The really sad thing is, so many of these showbiz kids come from really messed up/troubled families already, end up feeling the pressure of financially supporting the whole family, only to be further abused by the adults in power. They're all at it -- look at the "Disney Stare" -- kids who were Disney kids hit around the late 20's/early 30's and develop a sort of "look" and often clear mental health issues. IMO, this is the age people stop being as "YOLO, live in the moment" and start to reflect on their lives and past a little bit. And the result for these young people, is looking back and realising that they were exploited and abused. So they end up with anxiety, depression, substance abuse issues... etc.
Look at Macaulay Culkin, or the Coreys (Feldman and Haim). I'm also strongly of the opinion that Michael Jackson was both abuser and abused. I'm fairly convinced that he had deeply inappropriate relationships with young boys - but also, I think he was clearly extremely ****ed up by his own childhood (fame & family).

Heck even the ones who weren't paedos were still dodgy sexually harassing pervs (Mark Schwan of One Tree Hill). And even several who haven't had accusations of any sexual stuff seem to turn out to be awful - e.g. Joss Whedon (Buffy, Firefly, MCU Avengers, Justice League) ... no accusations of being a pervert, but now tonnes of him being abusive to cast and crew, bullying, misogyny, racism and just basically just being a power-tripping arsehole.
It's just a completely corrupt industry to be honest. Especially in the US.

There are definitely rumours going around about Dan Schneider.
If any of them are true, then he is an evil bastard.

I will controversially defend Joss Whedon over the Justice League Film, because the main gist that I can gather there is that he thought that the Actor in question was ****, so he tried to edit his role down in the Film, even if he could've possibly expressed it better, that seems to have been his main aim which I don't take issue with.
Admittedly his other scandals are pretty out there.

If you really think MJ was a pedo , how come it doesn't matter that little girls were spending time with him as well ?.
Surely all kids including his own would be at risk then of abuse ? .
Even if he only targeted boys , you would not want a predator around any kids period.
But it's interesting that the media was like tumble weeds & crickets any time MJ was around little girls . Hmm interesting.
I guess it's almost as if a particular image is being painted of MJ .
someone who is a danger to kids shouldn't be on the streets, full stop. If I recall correctly, it was only boys that came forward with MJ, so that was why the focus was on them in particular, but yeah, children aren't safe with predators on the loose

Few years back I was in a child protection role for some theatrical and BBC productions - at no point were the children allowed to be out sight or earshot of myself or someone else in my role. A director or choreographer etc wouldn't even be allowed to take them to one side for a private word.
Quite right too, of course, and I wish Hollywood had similar laws. Though they probably do, but who could stand up to the Hollywood fatcats?

All the kids that ' came forward' & ' spoke out' ,were coerced by their parents to lie so they'd all get a pay out ,either due to financial problems or because they wanted to use MJ's fame & wealth for their own ulterior motives. At least 2 of the parents' had criminal records .
The latest jokers Wade & Jim whatever their names ,had a million holes in their stories & kept lying ...and they couldn't even get the timelines correctly. Plus Wade kept trying to stay in contact with MJ , he dated MJ's niece which he conveniently didn't mention.
I will never believe a word they say .
And yeah a dangerous predator shouldn't be around any kids exactly, and it doesn't matter if only males accused him. Like I said all children would be at risk . But the media didn't seem to mind that girls also stayed at MJ's house , a reporter even lied and said she saw him bouncing a boy on his lap , when it was actually a little girl . So the media never got their facts straight.
Seems a bit odd that such a ' dangerous serial child molester' was perfectly safe around most of the kids including Macaulay Culkin ,who by the way still speaks highly of him now . He spent alot of time with him ,he didn't see anything inappropriate going on , same with Corey Feldman & Brett Barnes .
And I can't see Culkin & Feldman covering for MJ as both of them know what abuse is ,and have experienced that in their lives.
And I know a predator may still be a predator without abusing Culkin etc , but alot of it just didn't add up .
Police seemed less bothered about catching all the Hollywood perverts ,but spent 10 years watching MJ and they still didn't find any proof to back up the allegations.

THis was sort of covered re: Nickelodeon in the Netflix documentary... "by the book" that was the case, children were always supposed to have a parent or other adult guardian there when having any interaction with production, but in practice the culture was that the parents were just sort of "around" on set doing their own thing, not actually present.

Let's not reignite this GoldHeart the thread years ago was more than enough :joker:... this thread isn't about Michael Jackson I just included him in a list of "child stars who were potentially victims and ended up quite mentally unwell". That part, at least, you surely can't argue against. It's well known that MJ's dad was quite abusive and controlling.

Yeah I'm not reigniting it as such, I don't agree with everything though.
But yeah it's common knowledge MJ didn't have a proper or happy childhood ,but I still don't think the
victim became the abuser . But I'm not trying to convince anyone,as we all have our opinions on the matter.
If 2 gay hollywood celebs adopted a male child.....
That's what I should have said, eh glenn.
